356 CABRIOLET 1959 Porsche 356A 2dr Cabriolet 4-cyl. 1582cc/70hp 2bbl A dry car from California. Original black plate car with Kardex showing California delivery as a hardtop. Engine is period correct 1959, but not matching. This 356 was running and stopping until it broke a lifter a few weeks ago. The chrome Mangel rims, paint job, and overall condition reflects something out of the 80's. The car was stored in a dry, covered building. The white paint is old, showing some age, scratches, touch ups, and typical of an unrestored car. The interior seats are date stamped and correct to this car. The upholstery is seemingly new and redone, but naturally nothing close to an original 356 pattern. They are comfortable, and the chrome on the Keiper hinge/bases shows normal wear. The gauges are present, and look ok. There are a few small items missing. Please understand this is a project car and that it will require a full restoration. If you have specific questions, need more images, or would like detailed videos- just ask. The tires were new, probably 20 plus years ago when it was put away. The original bumpers are missing over riders. The top was originally black according to the kardex. Video shows it running well, but now has a broken lifter- it still runs, but not well. This video was taken a few days earlier. Easy fix, nice core 1600S engine. The car was originally ivory with a black hardtop delivery. The car has not been in accidents and not clipped. Flat floors and small rust perforations in the longitudinals would suggest a floor pan job in the future. Right now, with a fix to the lifter you can drive it as is and restore it when you are ready.
