Vehicle Detail
1978 International Scout Rebuilt Fuel Injected 345 The Good: Less than 500 miles on complete rebuild of the original 345. Hamilton Fuel Injection kit installed (controls both the timing and fuel delivery). 2 new rear tires, and low mile front tires. All new front brakes. Transfer case rebuilt and resealed. 1 year old paint job inside and out and new Rallye decals. Entire floor and bed sandblasted and treated with POR-15. Bed has new Herculiner bedliner. Brand new exhaust from the manifolds back (Magnaflow muffler). New carpet, re-upholstered seat, nice dash pad, new marine stereo and two very good speakers in the Terra top. All interior courtesy lights converted to LED. Everything works great. This thing is ready to go anywhere. Starts, runs, and drives like a new car. Amazing what a difference fuel injection makes on these motors. I've invested over 15K in this Scout to have it completely redone. A new baby on the way and demands of my restaurant force me to reduce my Scout collection. I basically need to just have one Scout and it comes down to choosing between this one and my 1980 diesel Scout, so the diesel traveler wins. Solid scout under the nice IH red paint job. Nice chrome window frames with all new seals and felt. Lots of detail to the interior and undercarriage. All new fluids (differentials, transmission, transfer-case, radiator, oil, and brakes). New clutch when the engine was rebuilt. New master-cylinder and power brake booster. New hubs, bearings, rotors, calipers, and pads). New spark-plugs and wires. New shocks (all 4). Solid floors, and rockers. Body and cab mounts are all solid. Too much to list everything, but you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer Scout. The bad: Fuel gauge reads low. Shows about ½ tank when full and goes down from there. There is a new sending unit in the tank so the problem is with the gauge itself. There are a few small blisters in the paint on the passenger side quarter panel down low in-front of the wheel. One small wrinkle in one rallye decal. Summary: Mechanically and physically sound rebuilt scout I would be comfortable driving this across the country and using as a daily driver. It looks very nice and gets tons of comments. This is a strong running scout that is good to go. Delivery: Buyer is responsible for delivery. Warranty: As with any used vehicle, this Scout is being sold as-is with no warranty express or implied.
