Vehicle Detail
I am offering for sale a 1961 convertible Chevrolet Corvette. The color of the car is Jewel Blue and only 855 of the 10800 produced this year were this color. The exterior of the car has the original paint job and is in fair condition. There are some scratches and defects in the paint but the paint is in surprisingly good shape to be vintage. The car has both the original hard top and the soft top. The interior is black and blue but is not the original interior. The car is a convertible and is equipped with both tops. It is also equipped with the original AM radio and the dash has not been molested and is in good shape. All of the gauges are real glass and work except for the gas, clock, and radio. The engine and brakes were rebuilt in June 2013, and I have the receipts for the work. The car is running and is drivable. The car was purchased in 1983 from the original owner and was stored in a metal building from 1983 until 2013. The odometer is showing 23,999 miles and I was told is the correct mileage. Since being purchased, I have rebuilt the engine, all of the brake system, and the fuel system. All of the fluids have been changed and all of the lights are in working order. The car is running and can be driven. The car is located in Guntown, Mississippi and can be shown by appointment. My number is 662 871-9299 if you have any specific questions concerning the item. The car is being sold "as is, where is," and no written, verbal, or implied warranty exist. The car is being offered locally as well and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION and feedback will be left on the buyer. Payment terms, $500.00 US dollars are to be sent via paypal within 48 hours of the closing of the Auction. The balance of the Bid is due in CASH when the item is picked up. I have purchased and sold many cars on line and I am experienced in the closing process. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Corvette enthusiast to own a rare piece of automobile history and a beautiful piece of artwork. Good luck bidders. On Jul-18-13 at 16:16:57 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE, ADDITIONAL INFORMATION First, let me say thank you to every one who has shown interest in the car. I have received many questions by email and phone requesting more information. I am posting answers to all of the questions. The Motor The motor is NOT a matching numbers car. I was asked to locate the block numbers and I took them to a local auto parts retailer to identify the motor. The motor is a 1964 Chevrolet 327. I know many of you will be disappointed and so am I. The number on the front of the motor is F050IS and the number on the rear of the Block is B134. The Transmission The transmission is the original transmission but the original shifter is missing. The Interior The interior is not original but all of the OEM parts can be purchased to put the car back original. The seat covers, door panels, and carpet to restore the interior will retail for an estimated $3800.00 dollars. The Dash The dash is not cracked and has never been molested. The gauges appear to be original and the radio is the original am radio. The windshield wipers do work. Drivable The car is drivable. Several of you have asked if I would drive the car to Alabama or Georgia and I would say yes. The two gentlemen who are from California, I would not recommend driving the car home without having someone inspect the car thoroughly. I have changed all of the fluids and greased the car but California is a long way even in a modern car. I hope the information is helpful. I did not know, nor did I ever state the motor was original in the description. However, in the spirit of fairness, if you bid on the car and do not want it because the motor is not original, then I will allow you to retract your bid without negative feedback being left as long as you do not bid again after this update is posted. I want the car to go to someone who can appreciate it and will be proud of it for what it is. Best of luck to you all. ALSO, to the gentlemen from North Georgia and South of Birmingham, Alabama, I have a nice trailer and will bring the car to you for a fee and after you have come over and looked at the car and paid for it before I deliver it to you. To the gentlemen in Chicago, ILL, I will not hold the car for you without a non refundable wire amount and fee to incur as we discussed. REMEMBER, This is A NO RESERVE AUCTION. The high bidder will win the car.
