Vehicle Detail
Very nice unrestored survivor 1955 Bel Air 2 Dr Post sedan in Harvest Gold & India Ivory. Sold new in Portland, Oregon at A B Smith Motors to Mildred Westlund in late 1955. Mildred had her beloved 1955 Chevrolet serviced at A B Smith Motors. The car still wears its original license plate frame and license plates front and rear from the dealership to this day. This vehicle was always garaged and well taken care of. Current mileage is 96,807. Very honest car, nothing is hiding. Original paint with beautiful patina. What I love about this `55 is it has never been tampered with, lowered, had a crate 350 dropped in it, it’s as it left the Chevrolet assembly line. The only rust thru is in front of the passenger rear wheel well opening which I’m told is common on these cars. Undercarriage is beautiful and rust free, trunk floor is really nice. Drivetrain is all original, including the numbers matching 265 V8, and original transmission. It was gone through mechanically approx. 5 years ago. I have receipts for an engine rebuild, transmission reseal, and brakes. I’ve driven the car daily for the past few weeks and it drives great. All gauges works, wipers work, lights work, horns work, radio is the only thing I’m aware of that is not currently working. Engine smokes when it warms up, I think it’s got a sticky ring(s) as it sat for several years after the engine was freshly rebuilt. I have what I was told is the original carburetor and air cleaner to the car. This original carburetor will need to be gone through. Very nice complete interior in the factory green. Original door panels are in very good condition for their age, original paint on the dash and interior jambs shows well. Has a day/night mirror. Car has always been stored indoors and kept dry so it doesn’t have that musty old car smell. Has all factory glass including the windshield. Wiring is nice and proper. Everything looks factory with no splices, electrical tape, or hack jobs. Chrome patina matches the rest of the car. Has the accessory bumper wrap around pieces that have been on the car since new. Has the original spare wheel and tire, rubber trunk mat is missing. Please note this is a very nice survivor, car has never been restored. It has bumps, bruises, scratches, 97K miles worth of wear, etc. and is in great condition for its age.
