IS PROUD TO PRESENT... A BEAUTIFUL 1961 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE!!! Are You Looking for a Stone Solid Corvette Project that’s Very Affordable? How about one with some of the Sportiest Styling Cues to come from Detroit in the ‘60s? If So... Consider the Very Rare Roman Red 61' Shown Here: Every Classic We List Comes With A Story... Here's This One's:Husband started and then stopped the restoration process years ago. Along the way, a divorce takes place and wife gets the car but not before hubby absconds with a lot of the parts. These included the engine, transmission, most of the interior and anything else not pictured. The good news is that it appears the guy knew what he was doing with respect to restoring cars.He started with a very solid frame and body and did an excellent job with respect to paint work. This Corvette is "Laser" Straight. I can't seem find any flaws or scratches and being a classic car aficionado, (I've included a picture of one of mine), I'm rather picky about that stuff. The glass seems to all be there and in good condition. There are numerous parts accounted for, however I'm sure there are numerous others that aren't.Some of the bumpers will have to be re-chromed, however the stainless (what's there) is in really good condition. This Corvette Rolls and Steers Just fine and can be shipped easily with a winch. The Rear End appears to be original to the car. I don not know what color the car was originally but by all indications it was Roman Red. I can tell this by the color of the floor on the inside.I believe that the interior was also red because of some interior parts (like the arm rests) are red, however they have been dyed black. The steering wheel is also red.I cannot see any evidence of any major fiberglass work underneath the car.The floors and trunk are very solid with just a "hack job" done where the gear shift goes through the floor. I don't believe this will have to be repaired before installing a transmission however. The Good News Is That These Issues Just Might Make This Classic Sports Car Affordable! Please Feel Free To Contact Me At Any Time. Happy Bidding!!! Parker - 1-419-460-2277 **Please note that no car is perfect. It has been driven. It may have minor wear and minor marks from being on the road. I would suggest coming to see it in person before bidding so you know the degree of wear of the vehicle. I listed this vehicle to the best of my ability. However, I am only human and could have missed a flaw. So please if you have any concerns contact me first. Thank you!!** IF YOU NEED MORE PICTURES OF UNDERNEATH THE CAR OR ANY OTHER PICTURES, PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND I CAN SEND THEM TO YOU. ALSO CHECK BACK.... I LIST CLASSIC CARS WEEKLY!!! THANKS AND GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!! BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR VEHICLE PICK-UP OR SHIPPING. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL IS DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF AUCTION ENDING AND FULL PAYMENT WITHIN 7 DAYS. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS WITH NO WARRANTY. YOU CAN INSPECT THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO BIDDING UNTIL THE AUCTION HAS ENDED. PLEASE CONTACT ME AND WE CAN ARRANGE A TIME. I HAVE LISTED THIS VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY, BUT BEING A USED CLASSIC CAR IT IS NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION. All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. No vehicle is perfect in any way. Each vehicle has its strengths, styles, tendencies and shortcomings. Therefore, despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle's mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or previous owner’s diligence in care. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold "AS IS". We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective. Please be advised that no oral or written statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of the condition of said vehicle. NOTE: I'VE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF OFFERS TO END THE AUCTION EARLY SO THEY WOULDN'T "MISS OUT AT THE END". MANY PEOPLE WERE NOT AWARE THAT THIS IS A "DUTCH" AUCTION. A DUTCH AUCTION ALLOWS YOU TO BID THE MAXIMUM THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY AND EBAY WILL DO THE REST! YOUR BID WILL ONLY GO UP INCREMENTALLY TO AN AMOUNT JUST ABOVE SOMEONE ELSE'S BID UNTIL THE AUCTION ENDS. YOUR BID WILL NOT INCREASE UNLESS IT HAS TO AND MANY PEOPLE GET THE ITEM FOR LESS THAN THEIR MAXIMUM BID. IF HOWEVER, YOU ARE "OUTBID", EBAY WILL NOTIFY YOU BY EMAIL. AT THAT POINT YOU CAN MAKE THE DECISION AS TO WHETHER YOU WANT TO INCREASE YOUR MAXIMUM BID. Happy Bidding!!! Parker - 1-419-460-2277 On Jul-01-13 at 08:48:39 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I am both embarrassed and confused to admit to you that I am not sure whether this is a 1961 or a 1962. A fellow Ebayer pointed out to me that it looks like a 1962. The reason I put 1961 is because I ran the VIN through "decodethis.com" and it came back a 1961. There is no telling what the Husband did with respect to replacing the steering column, fenders, VIN tag, or whatever. I've posted a good picture of the passenger side front that might help. If anyone can "shed some light" on this mystery I would really appreciate it so that I can let everyone else know. I promise to post your comments. Thanks, Parker. On Jul-01-13 at 13:47:15 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: Ken (a Corvette aficionado and fellow Ebayer) was kind enough to clarify the fact that it is indeed a 1962. With that said however, the VIN tag on the steering column and the serial # on the title match each other and start with a 1. The puzzling part to me however is the fact that Johnny (another Corvette enthusiast) tells me that the VIN number should start with a 2 if it's truly a 1962. When I put the VIN number in "DECODETHIS.COM" it states that it's a 1961. Again, I'm asking for any help that might clear up this apparent discrepancy. Thanks, Parker. On Jul-03-13 at 05:59:26 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I'VE BEEN GETTING EMAILS REGARDING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I NEGLECTED TO MENTION THAT THE FRAME IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION HOWEVER, THERE IS A RIP IN THE CANVAS AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. THANKS, PARKER. On Jul-05-13 at 17:08:56 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE! I HAVE LOCATED WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE TO THIS CAR! APPARENTLY THE HUSBAND TOOK THE ENGINE OUT AND REBUILT IT AS HE WAS RESTORING IT. HE PUT IT ON AN ENGINE STAND AND COVERED IT UP IN THE CORNER! THE NUMBERS ON THE ENGINE PAD ARE AS FOLLOWS: 2106051 - F0I23RE. IT DECODES AS A 1962 CORVETTE - 327, 340 HP. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED THAT THIS CAR WAS STOLEN SOME 30 YEARS AGO BY A COUPLE OF GUYS WHO HAD THEIR 1961 BURN TO THE GROUND. THEY STOLE THIS 62 THINKING IT WAS A 61 AND TOOK THE VIN PLATE OFF THEIR 61 STEERING COLUMN AND PUT IT ON THIS 62. (NOT TOO BRIGHT.) IF THEY HAD "THE WORLD'S DUMBEST CRIMINALS BACK THEN, I'M SURE THESE 2 GUYS WOULD HAVE BEEN FEATURED IN ONE OF THEIR EPISODES! EVENTUALLY, AND MUCH TO THE DELIGHT OF THE RIGHTFUL CORVETTE OWNER, HIS BELOVED CORVETTE WAS RECOVERED BY THE OHIO STATE PATROL AND RETURNED TO HIM. (I'M TOLD THAT HE CRIED TWICE... ONCE WHEN IT WAS STOLEN AND ONCE WHEN IT WAS RECOVERED.) UNFORTUNATELY, EITHER HE WASN'T ALLOWED BY THE PATROL, OR NEVER BOTHERED TO RE-TAG THE VIN WHICH BY NOW WAS LONG GONE. AS SUCH, THE WINNING BIDDER OF THIS CORVETTE IS GOING TO RECEIVE A TITLE THAT READS... "1962 CORVETTE" WITH A VIN NUMBER THAT CLEARLY MATCHES THE VIN TAG ON THE STEERING COLUMN, HOWEVER DECODES AS A 1961. MAYBE THE NEW OWNER CAN REMOVE THE BODY, FIND THE ORIGINAL VIN STAMPED ON THE FRAME AND THEN DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS TRULY THE ORIGINAL ENGINE THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. THEY MAY ALSO BE ABLE TO HAVE THEIR BUREAU OF MOTOR VEHICLES AGREE TO ALLOW THEM TO ATTACH A NEW AND CORRECT VIN NUMBER AND HAVE THE TITLE CHANGED ACCORDINGLY. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE THROUGH ALL OF THIS. PARKER
