Up for auction is my 1970? Honda cb 500 four.I acquired this along with 7 other motorcyles from an estate/barn/home auction.I had to buy all seven motorcycles as a lot.This one,a dirt bike, 2 pocket bikes(that I sold)and 3 british motorcyles.And Those are the ones I wanted.It's a nice looking bike for the year.This was all dusty in the barn where the auction was held,in fact they were all dusty.After cleaning it up and washing the dust off,I rolled it out into the sun and was going to keep it.But the brit bikes need attention and I am selling this to fund fixing the brit bikes.I was told the bikes have never been left outside,and the barn was new construction and climate controlled.The carbs were off it,and there are 2 sets.I set them in the bike for the pics.So I'm sure that the will need to be cleaned before being re-connected.The things I noticed are these:There is no front brake caliper&Front brake lever.On the left side of bike,side cover is missing,and tank emblem has been replaced with a decal.There is a small dent in the tank,shift lever is missing,and there are no keys.A box of extra parts comes with the bike,but these parts were not in there.The air boxes are there to.(see all the pics)The seat appears to be all original,but has some tape on it,it however looks nice,and is still comfortable to sit on. Now the good things I noticed.The tires appear to be almost new,the paint appears original(it has been touched up in spots)Has great compression when kicking it over.Chain and sprockets are in nice condition,Has a period 4 into 1 megaphone exaust system.The chrome is fairly nice all around and the bike and motor and cases look nice.Gas tank inside is nice and clean,no rust.It's an early honda,because there is no year on the neck where the vin.is.The number is CB550E-2103920,I estimate it to be 1970-71,but not real sure.It will also need a battery of course.The milaege is 17,416,and looking at the bike,I would say that's accurate.I don't know why someone took it partially apart.The 2 triumphs I got with this, are the same way.Anyways,buyer is responsible of pick-up and/or shipping.I will help load.Payment on the bike is required 3 days after auction ends in full-no paypal.bank, cashiers check or cash are accepted.There is no title with this bike and will be sold with a bill of sale only.Final sale, and bike is sold as is, where is.If less than 10 feedbacks,you need to contact me first before you bid.If I have left anything out just e-mail or call me.This bike is also for sale locally,and I can end this auction at anytime if it is sold here.Even with bids.Winning bidder needs to contact me 48 hours after auction ends for payment and pick-up method(s)No reserve,check out my other bike items and also all my other auctions up right now.I can be reached at (207)363-4909 or (207)752-4680.Thank you. On Jun-09-13 at 08:25:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I had a very nice person update me on this bike.So here it is.The bike is a 1971 honda 550 4 frame,however the motor has been changed somewhere,somehow over the years.It is a 1976 or newer motor.Looking at it you can't even tell,that it was ever done.He thinks years ago,someone maybe blew up the engine and put in a new one.Maybe even a shop or a certified honda mechanic.So That being said,if anyone wants to retract their bids I understand completely.I am a very honest person,and don't want to cheat anyone,if you do this to people,it comes back to you sometimes ten fold,and I have had it happen to me,some people call it karma.Thank you.
