Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE An excellent condition 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS. Get out your Magnum P.I. shades, and go for a cruise! Must see! Full maintenance records for last 16 years. Major service (timing belts, bearings, tensioners) just completed, less than one month ago. New leather on both front seats. 328's are consistently voted as one of the most reliable Ferraris. Owner history I am the 4th owner, where the first owner purchased the car new from “Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo” in Portland, Oregon. She owned the car from 1988 to 1992. I contacted Ron Tonkin, and they do not have the maintenance records for this owner. The second owner owned the car from 1992 to 2010 (18 years), and it was his daily driver. I have complete maintenance records from this second owner, starting from October, 1996. The car was dealer maintained at “Ferrari of San Francisco”. The third owner owned the car from January, 2010 to February, 2012, and is a friend of mine from college. He transferred the title to me, to complete the timing belt major service job. I have the title clean & clear in my name, so I am the 4th owner. Interior Carpet Excellent condition, and original stock black Ferrari floor mats are included. Dash leather Mint condition. No cracks or defects Dash gauges & lights All lights and gauges work and function. However, during previous repairs, some of the dash indicators were removed repeatedly, and are not 100% firm. They may rotate, or pop out of their mating hole slightly. The bulbs and system indicators work fine. Car stereo & speakers The Alpine head unit is new, and USB & iPod capable. The second owner installed a Blaupunkt amp behind the passenger foot rest, and 4 new speakers. Heater & A/C controls, window switches All fan speed and temperature controls work perfect. Two new window switches were installed in June, 2010, and the windows work fast and strong. No typical 328 slow windows on this car. Front Seats Brand new leather for both seats, November 2011 Targa top Excellent condition. Easy on, easy off. One of the levers is broken slightly, but it does not affect the function of the top or its removal. Mechanical Brakes Excellent. For the 14 years of maintenance records I have, the brake fluid (and all fluids) were changed annually, without fail, at a dealer. This car does not have anti-lock brakes. 90% pad life remaining on the front, 50% remaining on the rear, good for 2 years. Engine Strong and full power. The compression check at my pre-purchase inspection in January, 2010 showed 205 psi to 210 psi on all cylinders. Major service (timing belts, pulley, adjust valves) performed 5,000 miles ago with records. Electronic ignition is solid and reliable. Car has new ECU that is 5,000 miles old ($1,400 dealer part cost). 3.2 liter Quattrovalvole V8 Exhaust No issues. Solid. Steering Manual steering, no issues, car drives straight. Suspension No issues. Solid. Air conditioning The A/C does not blow cold. The previous owner installed a new compressor, condenser, and replaced the system hoses. I did not have the system looked at further during the time I owned it. Tires 4 brand new tires purchased 5,000 miles ago, on factory rims. Transmission As typical with 328’s, this car does not shift well into second gear when the transmission is cold. Once warm, no issues, and solid shifts. Body This is the highlight of this car. Straight, with no dings or dents. Car has rear defogger for the rear window. Both front door windows are tinted. The passenger side latch for the rear hood takes two or three tries to get it to catch. Cooling system No issues. Solid. Recent cooling system repair & evaluation, so recent coolant flush. Miscellaneous Car has original factory books, factory tool kit, and stock spare tire.I also have the factory technical specs, wiring diagram, and workshop manuals. It is currently registered in New Jersey, with clean title in hand.Car is in overall excellent condition. The price is thousands below other 328’s here on eBay. I would rather buy a daily driver than a garage queen that sat for 15 years.I welcome phone calls to discuss, and I’ve tried to give as much information here to answer all of your questions ahead of time. All of the other 328’s for sale here on eBay do not go into this detail above. For a purchase of this size, I would want no surprises. View my feedback. Please do not call if you are a dealer or a middle man looking to help me sell this car for me. Either buy it yourself, or please don’t call. Terms Buyer arranges and pays for shippingSold "as is", with no guarantee or warranty as to condition or suitability for any use.Must be paid in full within 7 days of auction’s end, so please have financing arranged prior to bidding. On Jun-05-13 at 08:50:35 PDT, seller added the following information: After reviewing my description, there is a contradiction. One part says "Major service (timing belts, bearings, tensioners) just completed, less than one month ago." while another part says "Major service (timing belts, pulley, adjust valves) performed 5,000 miles ago with records." The first one is correct. Timing belts were just replaced less than one month ago. The "5,000 miles ago" was the timing belt service prior to that. Sorry for the confusion. Please do not send low ball offers via eBay questions or private communication. If you are interested in the car, bid on it. If your bid is greater than my reserve price, you bought the car. Please do not ask what my reserve price is. Bid, and you will find out. When I previously tried to sell it, the seats were in bad shape, and it needed timing belt service. Prospective buyers were not happy at these two things in particular. I took it off the market, fixed these two things at considerable $$$$ (with genuine leather, not a dye job), and am selling it for the same amount as prior to these repairs. On Jun-07-13 at 22:24:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Arranging, hiring, and paying for shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer.
