FOR SALE IS MY 1978 FIAT X1/9...NO RESERVE AUCTION WITH A VERY LOW STARTING PRICE! IT IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION, WITH ONLY 40,000+ MILES... THIS CAR RUNS GREAT AND SHIFTS FLAWLESSLY... IT HAS A MIDWEST-BAYLESS ITALIAN AUTO PERFORMANCE CYLINDER HEAD AND 4-2-1 HEADER WITH A QUAD EXHAUST (NOT FIAT SPECIFIC EXHAUST, BUT SOUNDS NICE). I AM GUESSING THIS CAR HAS AROUND 85-95HP, WHICH IS ABOUT 20% MORE THAN STOCK, WITH THESE MODIFICATIONS...AND I GET 35-40 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY!!! NEW BRAKE CALIPERS AND PADS, KYB STRUTS, H4 HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS WITH BOB BROWN HEADLIGHT RELAY ADDED AND A MIDWEST-BAYLESS MEANER CLEANER AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY. 1978 WAS THE ONLY YEAR THAT CAME WITH THE COVETED STAINLESS STEEL EXPANSION TANK FROM THE FACTORY...THE BULKY FACTORY STYLE BUMPERS WERE RECENTLY REPLACED WITH MIDWEST-BAYLESS FIBERGLASS BUMPER BLOCKS AND EARLY STYLE TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLIES TO GIVE A CLEANER LOOK...I HAD A SET OF 1983 X1/9 SPEEDLINE CD16 WHEELS PROFESSIONALLY MACHINED AND REFINISHED TO GIVE A 'BETTER THAN NEW' LOOK. THE PAINT HAS AN EXCELLENT SHINE, WITH VERY FEW SCRATCHES OR BLEMISHES. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE CAR PAINSTAKENLY REPAINTED TO THE ORIGINAL COLOR CODE DUE TO SOME MINOR FADING AND THEY DID A NICE JOB. I CANNOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF ANY BODY DAMAGE, EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT AIR DAM POSSIBLY LIGHTLY BUMPING A FEW PARKING CURBS...VERY SOLID CAR. ONE DIME SIZE BLISTER UNDER THE PAINT BEHIND THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL (SEE PIC), AND ANOTHER QUARTER SIZE BLEMISH NEXT TO THE AIR DAM, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I AM GOING TO SEE IF I CAN GET THESE REPAIRED BY THE END OF THE AUCTION (SEE OTHER PIC). INTERIOR IS IN NICE CONDITION, AS WELL. A COUPLE OF VERY MINOR CRACKS IN THE DASH AROUND THE CENTER VENT (SEE PIC), BUT NICER THAN 90% OF THE X1/9 DASHES OUT THERE. REAR TRUNK SIDE WELLS ARE COMPLETELY SOLID WITH NO CORROSION...AGAIN, THIS CAR IS VERY RELIABLE. I HAVE NO FEAR OF CLIMBING IN THIS X AND DRIVING IT ACROSS STATE, OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MATTER. NEVER ANY PUDDLES OF FLUID LEFT UNDERNEATH HER. THE ONLY KNOWN ISSUE IS THE WHEEL BEARINGS BEGIN TO HUM AFTER WARMING UP. I AM INCLUDING A PAIR OF NEW FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WITH THE SALE. THIS IS THE NINTH X1/9 THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE 1983. PARTS ARE EASILY ACCESSIBLE AND INEXPENSIVE. THE CABIN HAS MORE ROOM THAN SOMEONE UNFAMILIAR WITH THESE CARS MIGHT IMAGINE. I AM 6'2" TALL AND AM QUITE COMFORTABLE IN IT. I LIKE TO TELL PEOPLE THAT 'YOU DON'T DRIVE X1/9s...YOU WEAR THEM'. THIS IS NOT A CONCOURS CAR, BUT A VERY NICE DRIVER THAT YOU CERTAINLY WON'T BE EMBARRASSED TO BE SEEN IN.
