Vehicle Detail

CLEAR TITLE, CLEAR TITLE, CLEAR TITLE. INTERNATIONAL BIDDING WELCOME. You are bidding on a very special, OSI DOCUMENTED(see letter from Fiat and Osi dated 1975/1976 in photos), 1965 OSI Fiat Neckar St. Trop Spider. OSI Number 596. 1 of approximately 140 made. Maybe less. OSI figures were never documented well. 1 of 1 known to exist in the USA. Possibly the only one ever imported. Making it even more rare....it was fitted with US spec. extra marker lighting. 57,095KM which converts to 35,477 Original Miles. 4 Speed, Fiat 1200 (1221cc) engine. Engine is 103G-005 family, serial number is 1776077, head is marked S62 on back. I have done extensive research into the ownership history of this car and have quite a tale to tell, see details in history section. TONS OF PHOTOS AND VIDEOS AT BOTTOM OF LISTING. Click on the link to be directed to to the photobucket hosting page at bottom of listing.THE DRIVING VIDEOS WERE TAKEN DURING SOME LIGHT RAIN, THIS THE SPOTS ON THE WINDSHIELD. This OSI was the latter most version of the St. Trop Spider. Based on the Fiat 1100D mechanicals(103G series engine, trans), Fiat 118H Chassis(think 1500 cabriolet), with OSI body, glass, interior. Steering wheel, switches, door and window handles and gas filler cap are all FIAT. Here is a link to the only OSI website I could find, but is somewhat dense, lots of info here. http://www.osicar.de/gb_neckar_st_trop_spider.html The car runs great, drives well, all electrical working except wipers, front passenger turn signal, license plate lamps and heater fan. A perfect car for a serious restoration or drive it as is, fix as you go. NEW: Gas Tank Totally Restored, Starter, Rebuilt Original Weber 36DCD7 Carb, DCD Air Cleaner and Air Filter, Electric Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Radiator Hoses, Thermostat, Radiator Cap, Fan Belt, Battery, Oil Filter. No major leaks, issues from drivetrain. The car does have some heavy corrosion in the driver inner rocker. Floors have been patched at some point as well. The body is overall very good, with some evidence of filler here and there. The hood has some rust along the brace near the front but, operates well and can easily be repaired. Chassis is solid, suspension pickup points, shock towers all in good condition. The front left brake pulls some, but all brakes were replaced not too long ago, it gets better the more I drive it. HERE ARE THE DETAILS: ENGINE: I WILL POST ENGINE COMPRESSION NUMBERS TOMORROW. New: Starter, Gas Tank Totally Restored, Rebuilt Original Weber 36DCD7 Carb, DCD Air Cleaner and Filter, Electric Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Radiator Hoses, Thermostat, Radiator Cap, Fan Belt, Battery, Oil Filter. Engine runs great. Starts every time. Very nice rev-happy 1221cc motor. No major leaks. The engine side plates seep a little, easy fix, the side covers have gaskets like valve covers that can be changed easily. The motor mounts could stand to be replaced for perfect smoothness. Very fun to drive...SEE VIDEOS. TRANSMISSION: No Issues. Clutch feels great, no grinding, syncros are great. CHASSIS: Very solid overall. Suspension Points, Shock Towers, Radiator Support all solid. The driver side inner rocker is corroded badly. It will need to be addressed sooner than later. The front floors have been replaced at some point, but should be redone to a higher standard. The seat rails are solid, with only some slight corrosion towards the front of the outer rails(see photos). The pedal box area has corrosion around the gas pedal, so I had to make a temporary pedal which is working fine. The floors are really the worst section on the chassis as far as rust goes. Overall the bones of the car are good, with both doors open, there is no body sagging. I can stand on the seat rails, they are solid. The two passenger seat mount bolts will need to be drilled out as they broke when removing, easy fix. Some very light corrosion in the front of trunk on the passenger side. INTERIOR: Overall fair to good. The seats are solid, but could stand recovering at some point. The seats operate well. Decent carpet kit installed. The door panels have some unfortunate overspray on them. The driver side plastic door pull is broken. I have the original dash mounted rear view mirror. The dash plate has been covered in a simulated wood sticker laminate. The dash plate was painted red originally to match the body color. There is no convertible top present, but the latches and top frame are present and operating well. I do have the ORIGINAL boot cover!!! It is in good condition with one small hole about the size of a quarter. BODY: Originally the car was painted a BLOOD RED. Very beautiful color. You can see the color in the photos of the bare floors. Gorgeous. In the 1990's, the car was resprayed to a less than professional standard in a lighter shade of red. The paint was applied thick and has held up quite well considering. There is evidence of body filler here and there. Overall the body is free of any major dents. There is a faint dent in the driver door,(looks like someone leaned against it), hard to see. There is a small dent in the tail panel just to the left of where the license plate goes(see photo), nothing major. I have supplied photos showing all rust spots, which are few, see them on the photobucket link. The hood brace has some corrosion, but can be repaired. Hood opens and closes well. All glass is good and OSI specific!!! The grill is a fabricated aftermarket plastic piece, not original. ELECTRICAL: All lighting working except front passenger turn signal and license plate lights. The combination switch has been taped up at some point but works the turn signals and headlights like it should. Replacements are easy to find and less than $100. Wipers and heater fan not working, but controls for flaps and heater valve are working fine. Horn works great and sounds awesome. The rear tail light lenses are not correct. The original lens can be found if desired. They are Altissimo brand. Generator putting out 13.5 or more volts. WHAT WOULD I DO: This is one of approximately 140 or less, Osi Neckar St. Trop Spiders ever made. Personally I would perform a professional restoration from top to bottom as this is a very special and rare car deserving of such attention. You could also enjoy it as is, while you have the rocker and floor redone, fix other stuff as you go. YOU WILL HAVE THE ONLY OSI NECKAR ST. TROP SPIDER IN THE USA, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DECIDE :) It is truly a joy to drive and has styling that simply is tops. HISTORY: The car was imported by an E5 Sergeant in the 1960's. Supposedly he bought the car brand new. It was sold to the second owner in Edison, NJ at some point, then was sold to the third owner (who I am in contact with) in 1975. This owner owned a foreign car repair shop and kept it stored indoors. He claimed the paint color was the most beautiful red he had ever seen. He did not know what exactly he had when he bought the car, so he wrote letters to Fiat, Fiat had somewhat of a clue, then he got a reply from OSI!! See photos. In the 1980's the car was sold to the fourth owner in the Edison, NJ area (who I have a lead on). The car was then sold to the last owner in Wyoming, PA in 1992. During the last owners tenure, which was until just last year, the car was repainted around 1995. This point is where the missing OSI items disappeared. I am in contact with the last owner and it's possible these items are still floating around somewhere, but I would say it is a 50/50 possibility. I have all contact information and will share this with the winning bidder. The OSI is missing the following parts: Original OSI grille and Neckar Grill Emblem, OSI Vin Plate, OSI Centercaps, Original Air Cleaner(same as 1100D), License Plate Lamps(although US Spec. ones are fitted) and the Convertible Top. Convertible Top Frame and Latches are present and in good working order. OK, here is the stuff I have to state because of all the idiots of the world... IF YOU HAVE ZERO OR NEGATIVE FEEDBACK, YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING, IF NOT, YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELED, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!! BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS. I can assist with delivery within a couple hundred (NOT THOUSANDS) of miles, for a fee. PAYMENT IS DUE 7 DAYS FROM AUCTION END. CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 DAYS OF AUCTION END. A STORAGE FEE OF $25/DAY WILL BE APPLIED FOR EVERY DAY THEREAFTER. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks and good luck! On May-24-13 at 12:54:24 PDT, seller added the following information: ENGINE COMPRESSION IS: 125PSI across the board. I also included a picture of the spark plugs which show a nice perfect even burn across all cylinders. The tires are Firestone Deluxe Champion 6.95X14. One is a B.F. Goodrich Silvertown and the spare is an Original Pirelli. They are old and would need to be replaced for highway use. I have been driving the car around on some similar Fiat rims and tires, as I did not want to take a chance. There is some minor rust at the bottom edge of the rear valance. I have uploaded pictures showing this. On May-24-13 at 13:01:17 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine compression test was done with engine COLD.
