Vehicle Detail

This is my fathers old project car that never got out of his garage. He purchased it in 93' from someone who had it sitting in their garage for fifteen years. Since then he has taken it out a half dozen times to work on it. The first thing he had done was the floor pans which were completely replaced professionally. His next project was the rocker panels were replaced. After that it has simply sat. The only time this thing would move was when I came over and took my kids around the block in it after giving it a jump. Currently it runs rough, but with a tuneup, I am sure it would be fine. The convertible top outside layer needs to be replaced and my father has a new one waiting for installation. The interior needs new rugs and he removed the plastic wood dash to replace it with a new still waiting to be installed. The engine does not leak oil and it shifts through the gears pretty well. The clutch still has a lot there. The bad - there's some bondo on the drivers side quarter panel and it is cracked but no rust is showing. This has been this way since he bought it. So my guess is the bondo was due to a minor hit rather than rust. The drivers side front fender appears from the inside to have been in a minor hit so the headlight and the turn signal appear to have some bondo around them, but looks ok for now. The seats look ok with no rips and the radio turns on. The rear glass window is in good condition. The rear lower reflectors don't fit well and should be fixed in some way. The bumpers have no dents but do have some light surface rust and should be re-chromed if you want it perfect. All the electrics appear to work including the horn brake lights and turn signals. The wheel covers shine nice but have some dings and dents. The tires have good tread and hold air but, are dry rotted and should be replaced. In fact they look like they may be original. It is missing the antenna and the drivers side mirror is in the glove box and it needs new rugs and trim on the doors. You could either fix the minor nagging things about this car in a week and drive it or it's a great base candidate to do a complete restore. My father's plan was to fix one thing each year until it was done but it appears as if he grew bored of the project and just stopped. It does look better in the photos than in real life because the paint is really much more faded and old then it appears in the photos. I am still looking for the other things he bought for the car. I know he purchased outside trim and new emblems. I just have to find them.
