Vehicle Detail
This is a great project that I'm putting up for auction but make no mistake it is a project. Up for Auction is a 1970 1/2 Pontiac Trans Am with Ram Air III 400 CID engine. This is a complete numbers matching original. Along with the Trans Am comes a donor car which is also a 1970 Firebird. I have owned this pair for about 6 years and intended to do a complete restore of the Trans Am. Unfortunately I have run out of time and am offering this opportunity to the highest bidder. If you have been watching the value of these cars rise then you know just how profitable a project like this can be. Read on for the details. This car needs a full restoration most body panels are rusty and the trunk floor is rusted through also. The doors, front fenders, rear quarters and even the roof have rusted through and will need to be replaced. The floor pan seems to have survived for some reason which I guess is a plus. The hood is not rusted through and I think can be saved but it will need to be stripped and some straightening will be required. The inner front fenders and firewall also seem to be solid. The interior is also rough but it is complete. The seats are good cores but will need to be restored as will all the fabrics like the carpet and head liner etc.The 1970 base firebird donor car has a complete interior and the body also has some rust and bond but keep reading as I have new body panels included in the auction listed below. The donor car has a salvaged title and can only be used for parts. The Trans Am has a clear Title There is only a partial engine in the donor car not that it matters much since you wouldn't want to use that in the Trans Am. THE GOOD STUFFBeside the donor car all the parts I have collected over the past 6 years to get prepared for the restoration will also be included in the auction. Here is a partial list of parts both used and NOS that are included. 1970 Trans Am, Florida Car VIN # 228870N123902 FL clear title 1970 Pontiac Firebird parts car salvaged CA title New Dash Cover 119.86 Door & trunk weatherstrip New Trunk pan New RH quarter panel skin New LH quarter panel skin New LH door skin Complete NOS decal set 529.79 Pontiac Historical Service Doc. 35.00 Complete history of the Trans Am NOS rear spoiler seal kit 15.00 New Exterior screw kit 35.00 New interior screw kit 45.00 New Firebird emblem 35.00 Blue console cover 22.00 Hood latch – good used 15.50 NOS package tray 45.00 NOS front and rear seat covers 475.00 (full set of seat covers in original blue vinyl) Center radiator support –used 24.50 NOS trunk liner 75.00 New shaker hood ring 18.00 Blue steering wheel and horn 105.00 Used LH door panel –blue NOS front valance – metal 300.00 Used spoiler center section 75.00 Blue glove box door – used 28.00 Chrome exhaust splitters 65.00 Good used New complete exhaust system 550.00 aluminized Tilt steering column – used 75.00 Trunk lid – good used 95.00 LH & RH rust free front fenders 250.00 Used rust free front fenders. Grand Total $17,204 OTHER GOOD NEWS - The engine is a 400 CID RamAir III numbers matching with numbers matching card, distributer, exhaust manifolds etc. etc. The engine is supposed to be a good running engine but I can't vouch for it since I have not had it running. I would recommend that the carb be rebuilt at the very least and you will certainly want to remove it and have it inspected to see what it may need. It also has a good set of factory Ralley wheels with new tires. The transmission is the original transmission and numbers matching for the car. All receipts for everything that comes with the cars will be included with the purchase. Let's be honest, I have about $17,000 invested in this project and have done a great deal of work procuring all the parts I have and the donor car. Once completed it is not unreasonable to realize a substantial increase in value 3-4 times the investment. Please DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE MEANS TO COMPLETE THE DEAL. Don't forget that your bid is a binding contract. Keep in mind that you will have to trailer these cars and neither is drivable right now so to ship them will be a significant undertaking. I will help all I can to load things up on your truck or trailer but ultimately the shipping is your responsibility. As you can imagine I am not able to offer any guarantee. As the first line of this description indicates this is a project. I will require a $500 deposit with Paypal within 24 hours of the auction close and the balance in certified funds within 5 additional days of the auction close. You should plan to pick up everything within 20 days unless other arrangements have been made. Please ask all your questions well before the end of the auction. Also give me a little time to respond since I can't monitor my Ebay account all day. I reserve the right to end the auction early since it is also listed locally. On May-11-13 at 17:55:50 PDT, seller added the following information: ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! I just confirmed some information and I am revising my description. Please read all of this first paragraph to be sure you know what you are bidding on. It appears that this car may not be a fully numbers matching car. Most things seem in order but here are 3 things you will want to know. The air filter pan is not the original which should be a double snorkel and it is a later model single snorkel. I can see where someone riveted the tabs on to hold down the shaker scoop. This is an automatic and the heads are stamped as #12 heads and I've been told that for an automatic car they should be cast as #13 heads. This may not actually be an error because stranger things than that have happened during assembly. They may have run out of #13 heads at the time this ca was assembled and would not likely stop production if a set of #12 heads were available but it is important that you are aware of this. The most significant issue seems to be that it MAY NOT have the original carb. Again I am told that the original carb # ends with 270 and the carb here is a 267. As consideration for these differences from what I believed to be true and what I have written below I have lowered the reserve price to reflect the difference. Finally I just sold the green firebird donor car. I still have all of the extra parts for the car but now you will not have to try and ship two cars. Again, I have lowered the reserve price to reflect these changes. Since the lower reserve price has not yet been met it shouldn't really hurt anyone but take things into consideration as you bid from here on out.
