Vehicle Detail

Oxford Blue D1 SD7 82k miles Overall: As a factory trained technician with my own independent shop, I am ALWAYS looking for the nicest and the rarest when it comes to Land Rovers. I couldn’t believe it when I acquired this one and I decided to keep it for myself as a daily driver and family car since we just had a baby. In short, this truck, feels, looks, performs and even smells brand new. It is clean, powerful, and as I mentioned, RARE – but more about that later. Whether you are the seasoned Rover owner, collector, or new to the Rover family, this truck will no doubt put a smile on your face every time you drive it as it has for me. Service and Performance: I have done EVERYTHING to this truck and all you have to do is get in and GO! Especially since this was my baby carrier, I did all the major servicing preemptively, and perhaps went overboard, but this will ensure performance and reliability for the LONG HAUL. - Complete head gasket service (including meticulous testing and service of heads and block, heads resealed, intake resealed, valve cover resealed, injectors resealed, upper plenum resealed, thermostat replaced and housing resealed – all GENUINE parts used). - Brand new factory radiator - Brand new upper, lower, heater core supply and intake service hoses - Brand new serpentine belt - Brand new air and fuel filter - Brand new spark plugs and spark plug wires - Brand new AAA battery - Brand new brakes - Brand new fan clutch - Transmission, Transfer Case, Differential and Swivel Housings all serviced and fluids renewed. - Brand New Head Liner - Brand New Sony 200w CD/USB/XM stereo installed - D2 Cup holders installed - Brand New Tires Driveability: When you enter the cabin with the WORKING remote entry and fire this baby up, you’ll notice how powerful and smooth the motor is from the first instant. Hit the gas and you’re off! The acceleration is amazing on this truck and velvety smooth to boot! There is absolutely no hesitation or shudder from the driveline and the motor purrs like a kitten with no overheating, ticking, knocking, or hesitation of any kind. Take any long looping freeway interchange at 75mph or better and you will be blown away at the sports-car like feel of this trucks steering. This was the way it was meant to be, and this is by far the BEST example I have ever come across. Steering is quiet, tight, and responsive. There is no body roll and you most certainly can enjoy a “spirited” driving style. Beyond that, the brakes on this truck have tremendous stopping power with no vibration or sag. This may be a moot point, but all windows, remotes, doors, etc work PERFECT. The auto-dim rear view mirror is crystal clear and works perfect. The power and heated seats work perfect. There are no warning lights on the dash at all. The AC and HEAT work perfect with no noises or chemical smells. Aesthetics: I think the pictures speak for themselves here but the truck is as gorgeous inside as it is on the outside. Oxford Blue is a really rare color and probably one of the best. Its origins come from its introduction in 1957 where it appeared on a Series IIa for the Ox-Cam expedition from London to Singapore. That said, the paint is still mirror like in appearance and smooth to the touch and YES – it is the original paint. She also has one year only front and rear lamp guards, as well as running boards and a tire cover in near perfect condition. Inside, the truck is incredibly clean and like I said, it has a new headliner in it. The leather seats are in EXCELLENT condition and have wear to be expected like a newly broken in baseball glove. There are no rips or tears in the leather at all. I used to be a fan of the sun-roof models… but I’ve gotta say, I prefer the non-sunroof SD’s for a few reasons. 1) We get enough sun in California and it’s nice to have the cover from it. 2) They will never leak and 3) There is nothing that will ever break or malfunction! The 7 Seater ability with the factory fitted jump seats look and work great and add a piece of kit that will always help this truck retain is value. Applications: These trucks are known for their safety, capability and luxury. As such, they are one of the most popular family cars in recent history. That said, its ideal for a family, a first car, a commuter car, a luxury trail truck build platform or even an Estate guest vehicle. Again, the fact that it’s a 99, the last year of the legendary D1 is of note for the collector. Add to that the rarity of the color, the model package and the crazy low MILES and you really have a Land Rover that is one of the finest out there. Perspective: I can’t say enough about how great this truck is. I love it and I would rate it an A+. It gorgeous, rare and has over $7000 of retail servicing done to make it even that much better. It does not leak or have any operational issues. Everyone defines “awesome” differently and I want you to be happy. Now is that the time to ask questions PLEASE. eBay even offers a 3rd party inspection service to satisfy all buyer needs. Again, this example is probably as new as youre going to find, but it is still a USED vehicle with normal wear and tear on it – normal blemishes inside and out to be expected… but too few to mention. There is a funny bumper sticker available from Atlantic British that says “If its not leaking its NOT a Land Rover!” This illustrates well the positive attitude you have to have owning an older British car. They will all leak over time, they will all find a way at some point to test your devotion. With that perspective, you are giving yourself the BEST CHANCE POSSIBLE with this truck to avoid all ownership moans for as long as possible. The truck is sold as is, where is with no warranty… but as I mentioned, I am not only a Rover Technician, I am an enthusiast who owns, loves and races them too. That means, should something fail in the not too distant future and I have it on the shelf, let me know, and ill send you one!!! Alternators, regulators, switches, bits and bobs – I have corners of the shop filled with them so please buy with confidence! People have bought tons of trucks from me through the eBay community and have driven them away as far as Venezuela, Florida and Montana. I would not send you off in something I didn’t believe in – life’s just too short for that kind of nonsense. I continue to drive this truck daily so the mileage will vary slightly upon pick-up/delivery. There is no reserve on this truck so bit to win and as always, HAPPY ROVERING!
