******* SEE BELOW FOR MORE PICTURES and VIDEOs *********** 1956 Buick Roadmaster Model 70 Riviera 4 door Hardtop Options: Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Antenna, Power Seat (2 way), Power Windows, Autotronic eye I have owned this car since 1997 (in the video I mention 1994-I was wrong). When I first purchased it, I drove it home and did some maintenance and just drove it and had fun with it. Around 2000 is when I quit driving it. The engine had acquired many leaks (that are now fixed). Below is a detailed description of what is good and bad about the car. Nothing will be hidden from buyers! Her name is Black Betty. This car would make a great restoration. There are not a lot of parts that would require replacing; only reconditioning. OR just do as I did, keep it maintained, have fun and go cruising. ENGINE: Runs great, no smoke. Has a lifter tic on the left bank but goes away after the oil pressure pumps it up. Oil pressure is very good. Motor /trans was pulled in May and I cleaned and fixed all the leaks and issues it had. Degreased the engine and painted it the original green. TRANSMISSION: Works great. Have not been able to road test it since 2000 but it engages fine in the driveway. I see no reason it would not work on the road. It has new fluid, seals and gaskets. BODY: Straight but has been painted a few times. Rockers have been replaced. RT quarter panel was repaired with handmade panels. LT quarter panel was qround back and rust cut out. Needs finished. There are rust holes in the floor board, but nothing too big that require full floor pans. They can be patched. Inner rockers and trunk floor are the same. The worst is the inner rockers and inner quarter panel (lower rear) Paint has chips, scuffs and overspray. Roof paint has small bubbles. GLASS: Front and back glass are very good. No chips or cracks to the front and back glass. Side glass is separating on the edges. Drivers door glass is cracked. INTERIOR: Mostly original unrestored. Carpet recently replaced. Front seat was recovered before I bought it. Otherwise the interior is all original. The dash pad is nice and the vinyl is still soft. Interior chrome is good but has some pitting. BRAKES: Working order. The condition of the shoes is unknown. I would recommend doing some brake work before driving it on the road for long distances. No leaks. MISSING PARTS · Spark Plug Covers · Spare tire retainer (bracket and wing nut) · Jack · Starter switch (located in the carburetor) · NOTE: in the cover pic, the BUICK letters are not on the hood. They are there now. Also note the side stainless is not on the car. It is included. I just don't hace all of the retainers needed to put it back on. NEW PARTS · Engine gaskets · Freeze plugs · Thermostat & housing · Radiator hoses · Motor mounts (2) · Heater hoses · Carburetor kit · Fuel pump rebuild kit · Rebuilt water pump · Transmission seals front and rear, pan gasket, torque tube ball · Transmission mounts (2) · Power steering hoses and pump gaskets · Front Park lamp lens · Trunk weather-strip and 2 bumpers · Hood insulation · Carpet · Fuel tank sending unit · Fuel tank was Redi-Stripped clean and Painted · NOS Fuel hose (under engine compartment) · 5 NOS side stainless trim. Still have the original part decal and plastic covering · Voltage regulator WHAT WORKS? Everything EXCEPT…… · Air Conditioning (the pump clutch does still engage when voltage applied) · Wipers · Washers · Carb secondary’s (acts like a passage may be plugged)(runs fine until secondary’s are engaged) · Autotronic eye (It worked in 2000, I am checking to see if there is a blown fuse, bad ground, etc) · Dimmer switch (I think this is because of the autotronic eye issue) · License plate lamp · Instrument lamps (I will look for a blown fuse or bad ground, worked back in 2000) LEAKS · There is a small transmission leak, looks like around the pan. I did not use silicone because I did not want any oozing into the transmission. May just need tightened up. · Heater core has a small leak. It used to drip at the right fender but has stopped since I put Presstone stop leak in the radiator. Should be fixable by a radiator shop guy. TIRES: Could use some new ones if you plan on driving it soon. I think it would look great with wide whites. PICK UP ONLY. OR Send a carrier to pick it up. Located in Petersburg, IN 47567I will work with you on pickup terms. Payment in person with CASH or Bank check only. I went through all the connections, traced wiring down and found a relay contact was dirty. The eye is original, it has a build date of 1955 inside the eye control cover box. I wasn't sure if it was put in at a later date. This was the first time I ever had to work on it. I am amazed how the technology back then works. Everything inside the control box and the eye looks great. Also I found the cigarette lighters do work, front and rear. They look like no one ever used them. I guess in the 16 years I have had it, I have never had a need to use the lighters. On Apr-30-13 at 04:19:12 PDT, seller added the following information:
