Vehicle Detail
Please read the item description in its entirety and check back for details and updates. For sale is a 1968 Torino GT fastback S code 390 4 speed project car. From the factory this car was Presidential blue poly with two tone blue interior, bucket seats, tach dash, power brakes, manual steering, and 28 spline 9" open rear axle. . This is a project car that needs to be restored, but it is a great example of what these cars were about so it is definitely worthy of the time and effort to get it back on the road. The car had an amateur paint job years ago and obviously needs paint, but structurally it is very solid. It is missing the original engine and transmission, but included in the sale is a RUG C1 close ratio 4 speed top loader with Hurst Competition Plus shifter, a C6ME-A 390 block, 390 crank, C8AE-H 16 bolt FE heads, standard bore 428 pistons and big rods, a C6AE intake, and various other engine components (oil pan, valve covers, rocker arms, etc). The top loader has a broken ear, but it looks to be repairable. The block was hot tanked a while back and has new freeze plugs, but needs to be bored. Main components that are not included are the bellhousing and fork, clutch, pressure plate, exhaust manifolds, drive shaft, and radiator. There may be other parts missing, but those are the main hitters. The car still has the bucket seats, tach dash, disc brakes, booster, distribution block, and 9". Also included is a brand new set of seat covers in the proper pattern and colors. These covers cost over $500 and are top of the line quality. Metal wise, the car is very solid and looks to have escaped many of the common rust issues. There is some rust damage in the driver and passenger side rear floors that will need to be repaired. The rear floor pans should be replaced. There is also a rust hole underneath the passenger side back seat brace that will need repair. The front passenger side floor pan has a hole in the front outer corner above the torque box and a few other small scattered holes. The drive side front floor board looks to be solid. At some point, the transmission hump was cut near the shifter cutout, but the metal was folded out of the way and not cutoff completely. The original metal is still there and the damage looks repairable. The quarter panels, wheel wells, doors, fenders, engine compartment, trunk compartment, tail light panel, torque boxes, and frame rails all looks to be solid and straight. There is some light bubbling in the lower rear passenger side quarter panel, but there is no evidence of damage from inside the trunk. The bubbling may just be in the paint. The rest of the quarters look to be in great shape, with no noticed rust damage in the lower sections or around the wheel wells. There is also some light bubbling in the bottom rear of the driver side door. The bottoms of the doors and fenders also look very solid. There is no noticed damage inside the trunk compartment or on the panels in the engine compartment. The hood and trunk lid do have some rust damage where the inner and outer skins come together and the trim pieces are mounted. On the hood, part of the surface that the trim mounts on is rusted off but the rest of it looks very solid. Another hood with good metal in this area is included, so you should be able to combine the two to make one good part The trunk lid has some rust on the inside of this surface, but overall, it looks salvageable. Overall, the interior and trim parts are mostly complete. There is an extra blue dash pad included in the sale that is in usable condition. It has a few scuffs but it is not cracked. The hood trim, trunk trim, fender extension trim, and quarter extension trim pieces are still there and are in restorable condition. All of the glass is still there and looks to be in good uncracked condition. It is Carlite Sun Ex tinted. The driver side door glass is currently out of the door. The chrome on the bumpers is poor, but a second set is included. Neither set is great, but worst case you'll have plenty of options to send in as cores for for re-chroming.The wheels and tires shown are not included, but the car will be sold with a set of rollers and a set of correct argent styled steel wheels and button hubcaps (may not have hubcap emblems). Other parts that are included but not shown are the extra hood, factory 69 style hood scoop, and hood lip trim. All of these parts are in used restorable condition. If you are in the market for a Torino or a 60s BIG BLOCK 4 SPEED muscle car then this would be a great project for you. This is a desirably optioned car and has been spared from many of the issues that are commonly associated with these cars. It has a clear title, and is ready for restoration. This car is NOT for sale locally and there is NO RESERVE, so you can confidently bid knowing that the car will be available until the auction ends. Offers on the car will not be accepted so please don't bother. Please read the entire description thoroughly and study all the pictures before bidding.
