Vehicle Detail
1972 Chevrolet El Camino NO RESERVE Thank you for viewing my 1972 Chevrolet El Camino in SS trim. This is a nice driving El Camino, very smooth at 70mph down the freeway. I have owned many cars, but this is the first time that I have had an El Camino, and after driving it I seem to like them even more. Owned my fair of Ranchero's though, don't tell my Ford friends about this though. Anyways what we have here is a very nice driver, it is not a show car, though you will end up taking it to your local cruise ins, and shows and just have a good time, and do up grades as you go. This car went through a mild redo in the 1990's, but has aged a little since then. This is not a real SS, this is an SS Clone, Replica, what ever you may want to call it, some one has badged it. The odometer reads 03,302 back in the day they only had 5 digits, so assume it has rolled over at least once in its life time. If you want a car that you can enjoy and just drive, then this is it. A very solid vehicle, runs great, and one that is affordable, which a lot of people are looking for today, who don't have 30K or more to spend. This is a no reserve auction, meaning that every bid, counts, top bidder will get the car. The body is very straight on this El Camino, no signs of any major problems, or accidents. For the most part everything lines up very nicely, doors shut nice, hood and fenders line up good. When you look down the side of the car it is straight, not a bunch of ripples. I imagine back in the 1990's this cars paint looked great. Today, the paint does look nice, and it is very glossy, but there are a few chips and scratches on it, that have been touched up. There are a few rust bubbles behind the rear wheels on the lower quarters. The rockers, are in excellent shape, no bubbles, very solid. Inside the bed is very clean as well, nothing fancy, things have been hauled in the bed, you can see small dings, and scratches. The previous owner cleaned it up a little, and had it painted black looks decent though. There is some paint blisters on the drivers upper quarter you can see them in the pictures, this isn't rust, just some kind of reaction or something, looks like they have been there for some time, just not sure what happen here. Along the roof line, on the passenger side, there is a factory seam, next to the window gutter, there is a little raised area, probably the factory lead in that seam. Overall, a good looking car for what it is. The hood is an all steel Cowl induction hood, with SS stripes with ghost flames. The trim and chrome are decent on the car, a little worn, but nothing major. The only dings I saw in trim, are on the rear wheel lip moldings a couple minor dings. There are light scratches, and scuffs on the trim, but from 10ft away they look great. The bumpers look to be in nice shape as well, worn, but look good for a driver. The lights all work on the exterior. There is a hitch in the rear, if you want to pull a small trailer which is handy. Overall, a very nice driver. The interior is in very good shape. The seat is in good shape, no rips or tears. The carpet looks decent, but it has aged, it is getting a little thin. The dash pad overall is in good shape, but there is on the drivers side a crack in the speaker area, you have to look over the dash to see it. The instruments all seem to be working, has an external Oil pressure, and Temp gauge. The radio, is a CD player with remote, but it is not hooked up, there is a power wire, that goes to the battery in the rear, but not hooked up yet. I think the radio was installed in the last few years but they never got it finished, so I don't know the working condition. The Horn works, all the dash lights work, turn signals, etc. Dome light works. All the exterior lights work as well, including backup lights. The headliner is very nice, it is a velour and in good condition. The speedometer works, and odometer works. But the speedometer jumps around a lot probably the speedo cable not sure. Overall the interior is in good shape for a driver, it is clean, door panels look good. Windshield wipers, and heater work as well. The car was original ordered with AC, but it does not have an AC pump on it or brackets, but it is plumbed for it if you choose in the future. Mechanically it is in good shape, it has a 350 in it, with aluminum Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, with 4v Edelbrock Carb. It has long tube headers on it as well. The car has been lowered in the front, and the headers have skid plates on them. It wouldn't be hard to raise the car back up, with taller tires and springs. I am not sure exactly internally what has been done to the engine, it is a mild cam, and sounds really good with the Flow Masters. It runs very good, no over heating issues, it does not blow or burn any oil. The transmission is a Turbo 350, shifts nicely, no unusual noises. The u-joints seem to be in good shape as well. It has a 12 bolt rear end in it, which is a very nice addition. Overall, it has plenty of power, and seems to have no issues when it comes to reliability. It has drum brakes in the rear, and disc upfront. The tires are in good shape, I do have 2 other wheels that I will include in the auction. The wheels are in good shape on the car, but some of the clear is coming off of them. This car is a very good driver, and mechanically in good shape.
