Vehicle Detail
1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu NO RESERVE Thanks for viewing my 1967 Chevelle Malibu, this is one of my favorite GM body styles of the mid late 60's, goes way back when I was a kid, just something about the 66-67 Chevelle hardtops. Hope none of my Ford and Mercury Friends see this auction, but hey you got to like a few of each brand, wouldn't mind a Nova of the same vintage as well. Anyways, this car was a one owner up until 2012, not advertising it as a Survivor or original car, but the same gentleman bought it new at Selman Chevrolet in Orange, California on 8/26/67. The original owner in the 1980's decided to repaint it Marina Blue, a correct color for 1967, was getting tired of the YY Butternut Yellow. He also replaced the block, with a GM 350. For the most part the good thing is that this car is very solid, and has not been messed with, besides the repaint. Nice to see a car, that someone has not decided to turn into a SS clone or tribute, this one is a factory Malibu V8 Sport Coupe 136, it has original interior in it, and overall a great driving car. This is one that you could fly in right now and drive it home. The odometer reads 91,765, assume it has rolled over at least once, since I do not have any documentation supporting otherwise. The Malibu does have a new set of Rally Wheels on it, caps and trim rings. I love the way this car runs, still running single exhaust if you can imagine that, it just purrs, I sure the next owner will let her breath a little with duals, but that is up to you. The Malibu, is very solid, original floors, quarter panels, no patches, inside the quarters are very clean with no signs of any patches or repairs. The rear taillight areas are clean, no damage, and trunk panel is clean inside. The paint looks great in the pictures, but you can see in some of the close ups, it is just a paint job, nothing special, out in the sun it looks great, but as you get closer, you notice paint chips, and scratches, some discoloration etc. When you look down the sides, it is fairly straight, you see small dings, but no major dents on the car. The only thing that looks out of line a little, is the drivers fender, where it meets up with the door edge is out a little, probably just needs aligned, I never really noticed until I took the pictures. This is a car that I would drive into any local cruise in and enjoy myself. It in general a nice looking car, but will need new paint down the road if you choose, or just drive it the way it is, and if you get a chip or scratch, you won't be upset. The glass is all good in the car, no chips, windshield is clean, the door and quarter glass all roll up and down nicely. There are some small rust bubbles on the body, but pretty minor. A few small pimples behind rear wheels, very minor, and some at the bottom of the fenders. These are easy things to repair if down the road. Around the wheel lips and the rockers are excellent, no issues. The corners of the rear window, has some rust that needs repaired, pretty much every old Chevelle or GTO have this issue, but again, not to bad from what I have seen. I did not clean up the truck, it has some heavier surface rust, I saw one pin hole, see close up, but as you clean up the truck, you may find a few more. I don't think personally I would put a new floor pan in it, it is pretty clean. If anything I would have it all cleanned up, and put Por15 on it and protect, fix the small pin holes and call it good. Up in the upper quarters they look great as well. The bumpers on the car are in good condition, I would not have them rechromed they look pretty nice. The trim on the car is in good shape, the worst piece of trim is the eyebrow molding on the passenger side. Look at the pictures, and you can get a general idea of the trim on the car. Overall the trim on the car is useable, but know that reproduction stuff is very affordable. The frame is very clean as well underneath, no rust issues, also all the body mounts look in very nice shape, no rusty. The interior in the car is in good shape. The front and rear seat are original far as I can tell, looks like original stitching. There is a small hole on drivers side, see picture, and a few wear spots in general. Overall the seats are very useable, the foam and structure of the seats seem in good shape, springs etc. The carpet is in decent shape, a little faded, but overall, it is clean, not ripped up or torn, it is shrunken a little in the corners by back seat from age. The door panels are original, and overall in good shape. The dash pad is excellent, no cracks. The headliner, very nice, no rips. The glass is all in decent shape, everything rolls up and down nicely. Underneath doors are not rusty, very clean. The instruments all work, radio turns on, but I am having trouble getting a station. Horn works, interior lights all work. Overall a clean original car inside. If you wanted to show it, the interior only because of its age, would need freshened up a little but not much. The drivetrain is in good shape, it has at 350 block in it, not sure if the heads were replaced, they may be the 327 heads or 350, the intake looks like the original one, and the valve covers and air cleaner, the valve covers were recently painted, the intake has old paint on it. It does not burn any oil, it starts right up and one push of the gas pedal, and it runs smooth. One thing I have appreciated about old Chevrolet engines, that don't have dual exhaust, is that nice hum from the engine and the power glide transmission, just sounds unique. The car drives very nice, seriously you could fly in and drive it home, it is an old car, but I trust it, it drives very nice. The wheels and tires are fairly new. Interesting to note, they were purchased at a swap met, with the tires already on the wheels, and installed. A friend of mine has had the car for about 6 months, and come to find out, I was looking (actually the gentleman that works for me, got to give him credit) at the Redlines yesterday, and someone made them into redlines. The are Goodyear tires, with small white walls, and someone took the white wall, and split it up, and painted half black and the other red. I have told that to a few people that I have show the car to, and at first they look at me like I am crazy, they the look really close, and say, that is amazing, I would have never known. Anyways, I am letting you know as well. The brakes are in good shape, it stops very good. It does have drum brakes all the way around, and they stop very good. All the lights do work on the car, headlights, marker lights, even the back up lights work. Overall mechanically it is in good shape, for a car that really has not bee restored, basically underneath is all original. This is a great car for someone who cant afford a 30K muscle car, this is one that you can enjoy and build as you go, or better yet, just drive it and enjoy it.
