Vehicle Detail
A perfect spring project! Up for bid is a 1978 International Scout with a manual 4 speed original 345. The engine is strong as well as the 4-wheel drive. I start it every week. The four-wheel drive is strong, but the hubs would definitely benefit from a thorough cleaning and repacking. The front floor pans need replaced, so that is the project part. I removed the front seat to begin restoration and realized I don't have the time for another project, so this one has to go. You can get the floor panels for $59 each on c2cfabrication's website. They also sell the rockers (24.99 each), which will need replaced as well. There is also about a square foot in the corner of the cargo area that needs patched. The area between the front driver and passenger floor and the back seat area is solid. The exhaust is in poor shape and needs replaced too. If you're good with a welder you can have this ready to go in just a couple of days. Another issue is that the windows are detached from the hand cranks. They can be pushed down/up but the cranks don't work. The front seat has some tears but is usable. This will need to be towed or trailered out because the front seat is removed and can't go back in until the floor is replaced. Due to the state of the floor pans, I will not allow anybody to get into the cab for any reason until after the sale is finalized, if you then choose to do so it is your own business. The body is in good shape except for a dent in the rear left corner, the lift gate is a replacement and needs painted and there are a couple of other smaller rust spots (pictured). I have never had the top off but it is in excellent shape and solid metal. It also comes with a set of summer tires on (what I think is) the original rims and an extra lift gate window. Let me know if you have any questions. Pic #4 is of the back seat, the last three pics are of the body rust. If you would like to schedule a time to come take a look let me know, I am located in Southern Illinois. You, the buyer, are responsible for haul away, I have no way of arranging freight delivery. Thanks for looking! On Apr-15-13 at 05:07:05 PDT, seller added the following information: ATTENTION: I forgot to mention, the frame under the rear driver side wheel well has been removed and patched by a reputable body smith. The same area on the passenger side will need a similar operation, but isn't as bad as the other side was. I have the reserve set at $1,800, if it sells at that price I will be losing about $2,000 but it needs to go as I am selling my house and moving. On Apr-15-13 at 05:22:04 PDT, seller added the following information: To clarify, The front driver and passenger side floor pans, rockers and floor supports need replaced, they are completely rotted and do not function as is. The floor padding and liner is still intact and has not been pulled up but the aforementioned floor parts are as solid as I can tell without a destruction test. If you cannot have the Scout picked up before the end of April, please do not bid.
