Vehicle Detail

This car is the last year for the GT6. It has factory power brakes and much desired overdrive. It has the swing-spring rear-end that was added only to the 1973 model mid-year to improve handling and simplify the rear suspension. This is the same rear suspension as the later Spitfires and makes parts and repairs cheaper and easier than the Roto-flex cars. This is a fresh restoration that has taken 3 years. The engine is a full rebuild with raised compression. I only have 160 miles on engine and it is still in the break-in phase. Compression is 170 psi in all cylinders, carburetors are rebuilt and work beautifully. The exhaust is new and sounds great. Transmission is rebuilt with all new bearings and synchros, overdrive is rebuilt and works perfect. Paint is fresh, it is virtually spotless. Paint is the original color Carmine Red in a high quality 2 stage base coat/clear coat, paint has been cut and buffed and is very smooth. The interior is nice, carpet is new and good quality, headliner is new. Seats are original frames with the adjustable headrests removed, seat upholstery is custom, door panels are custom. Dash face is new. Seatbelts are aftermarket 3 inch race belts. All gauges work perfect, all lights and signals work perfect. This car has NO rust and all rockers and hidden voids have been treated to prevent future rust. Floors and rockers are ORIGINAL. The only rust spot was a 3 inch diameter hole in the passenger rocker in front of the rear wheel. It was properly repaired with sheetmetal and treated to prevent rust. All interior panels have been covered in a sound deadening heatshield produced by Eastwood and is the same as Dynamat. Front suspension is all new and rebuilt, tires are all new Michellins, wheels are original. All brakes are new. This car is the only year to have power brakes and self adjusting rear brake shoes. But, of course, cars are never quite finished and it does have a few things for the next owner to work on. It needs a side view mirror installed, there are no holes drill so any style and location of mirror is possible. It needs rear shocks, I have a set of Koni's on the way for it. It needs the doors, gas door and rear hatch lock keyed, I only have the ignition key for it now. This car is easily an 8 or 9 out of 10, and I am conservative in my opinions of my own work. The pictures describe the car best and many more are available by request, both before, during and after restoration process.
