1975 Morgan

Diesel

This is a Morgan 30 foot yacht which has become a classic. She was made in 1975 and has sailed all over the Bahamas, Jamaica and up and down the east coast. I bought her to recondition and sail with my son who has recently married, has a new business and won’t be able to join me any time soon - no time for sailing. As I am getting a bit older and live in South Carolina I have decided to sell her to someone who will be more able to enjoy her than I can. She lies on the Chesapeake and that is quite a sail to bring her to Charleston. The boat has a Volvo Diesel engine which appears to be ready to go. A new stainless fuel tank has been installed, the controls are hooked up the motor spins freely by the starter, the compression releases seems to work fine, the oil is clear, no water, and looks like it was just changed. Fuel and electrical lines need to be attached, a new ignition switch in the control panel will need to be installed, and the engine cooling lines reattached and it should be ready to go. The water strainer is present and clear. The standing rigging looks good; the running rigging may need to be replaced next season. The sails are fair and consist of a jib and mainsail. The interior will need to be redone. No cushions are present but the outside is very nice and as the pictures show has one of the most beautiful lines of any boat on the water. An alcohol stove is present but I am not sure if it works. This is a 70’s boat and in those days the fiberglass was laid on very thick and I could not find any soft spots anywhere. There are 3 winches which seem to work fine. The boat has a bow mounted anchor, chain and rope. All the safety lines are intact and in good shape, there are covers over the mast lines. She will need to be hauled and a bottom job done. The boat must be moved immediately it is at a private residence in Lusby, MD. and they need the dock space. Because it is at a private residence there will not be an opportunity to view the boat before buying so if you have any questions at all please ask before bidding Please do not bid unless you are prepared to move the boat immediately. If you are knowledgeable about diesel engines you could move under her own power after hooking up all the electrical, water and fuel lines but a better solution may be to have her towed to a local marina for any work which may need to be done. Morgan Yachts are excellently designed and built boats as this 30 plus year old boat can attest. They don’t come available often for sale and if my circumstances were different, this one would not.
