Vehicle Detail

I have owned this Truck since 2005 and it is a very nice, clean example of the Ford F250 Highboy. It has a 390 V8 and a 4speed Manual transmission. It also has factory ac (the compressor is not on the truck but comes with it). I have made a few very significant improvements to the truck over the years, including adding power steering (real power steering, not power assist) and power disc brakes on the front. I have also started on the interior where I have added a NOS dash pad (black) , black carpeting, and had the seat professionally redone in black two tone vinal. The door panels (inside) are off but come with the truck, I took them off to fix the door locks, and I was going to replace them in black instead of green. When I bought the truck I was told that some of the body parts are from a 1970 F250, The frame, drivetrain, etc is all original to the 1972 truck. I was also told that the motor was rebuilt with approx 30k miles on it. I have no paperwork on the rebuild but the motor has always run strong. It has headers and some type of aftermarket electronic igniiton system. The odometer shows approximately 78,000 miles. I have no idea what the actual mileage of the truck is. There is a heavy duty trailer hitch and a trailer brake system (which I have not used). There is very little rust (primarily just surface rust). The only place I see more substantial rust starting is on the passenger side rain gutter, where there is a small amount of rust. Otherwise, the body is very very solid and clean in my opinion. I believe that all this truck really needs to look fantastic is a new paint job. I can tell that the drive shafts and u joints were all rebuilt at some point as the drive line has stickers on it from a drive line company. The rear differential is 4:11 gearing. The front differential has 4:10 gearing (the entire front axlwe was taken off of a 1975 f250 to convert this truck to power disc front brakes). I have spoken with a differential rebuilder in my area and am told that there is no discernable difference between 4:11 and 4:10, meaning this should not be any problem. I have never really used the 4 wheel drive but today I drove the truck a mile or so in 4wd high just to test it out, and it seems fine. I did notice though, with the hubs locked a noise (loud) occurs when the brakes are applied. This is not present when the hubs are in 2wd. It seems something may be rubbing the backing plate on the disc brakes or maybe the hubs need grease. I do not know, but, again, in 2wd it is not an issue. In the interest of providing as many details as I can here is a list of little things to work out: it needs new wiper blades (they are old). the radio is not hooked up; the gas gauge does not seem very accurate; the passenger door lock can only be opened from the inside; the drivers door latch may need adjustment as you have to shut the door tightly to get it to shut securely. It has a 4 barrel (edelbrock) intake which has an adapter on it to accomodate the 2 barrel carb on the truck. Sometimes to get the headlights to come on I have to click the highbeam switch; the heater motor does not seem to work. if you live in CA you may need to get a front license plate. The truck has the blue and yellow 70s vintage california plate but did not come with a front plate. The above reprsent all of the little things I can think of. The truck runs and drives great. I will say that it is geared pretty low and it does not like to go over 60 or 65 on the freeway. The clutch, brakes, shifting, etc all work fine. With a paint job this will be beautiful and increasingly valuable truck. I hate to sell it but I am working on another project car and do not have space to keep both. I have set the Buy It Now at a very reasonable price. Even if you have to spend money to ship the truck across the US, at the price I am letting this go for the shipping charges are more than offset. If you want a nice old Highboy you better Buy It Now before someone else does! I have tried to be as complete as possible in my description. If you have any questions please let me know. If you want to have the truck shipped the Buyer must make arrangements for it to be picked up in Concord CA, and all shipping must be paid by the Buyer. This 41 year old truck is sold as is, with no warranty or returns. The Buyer agrees to send me a deposit ($1000.) via paypal within no more than 3 days of the end of the auction. The balance must be sent to me via US Postal Service Money Order (only) within one week of the auction ending. Again, ,if you have any questions about this nice old truck please let me know. Thanks for checking out my auction.
