Vehicle Detail

1964 Volkswagen Bus NO RESERVE - Starting at $19.64 Thank you for viewing this 1964 VW Bus. I have owned many buses in the past, and they are just plan fun to drive and just love the looks. The last Microbus, I owned was about 20 years ago, when I was in College, and used to drive it all over in the Seattle area, it was Green and White, even let my girlfriend, now wife drive it around, it was super fun, it also was a 1964. Doing the business I do, I get to own some great cars from my past that is half the enjoyment, owning them one at a time. I owned a lot of bugs and buses right out of high school, this little 64 brings back a lot of memories. Anyways, this bus is in great shape for it being almost 50 years old!!!. This bus came out of California around 2004, and basically has not had much road time since then, still has its 2004 tags. It is in great shape though, because it has had some work done in the last few years. The engine runs very good, it starts right up, and you can drive it pretty much anywhere. The Odometer reads 46,993 but assume it has rolled over at least once maybe more, the cable is missing, so no idea how many miles it has. It has a Clean and Clear, California title. Overall this is a very good project bus, very solid, does have some rust, but pretty easy to fix on this one, structurally it is in great shape. Mechanical: This bus runs great, from what the engine code reads H, the engine is a 1965 1500cc bus motor, which these motors were upgraded with cam bearings for more reliability. The engine runs good, no noise, and actually currently does not leak any oil on the ground imagine that. It has a valve adjustment a while back, so no clatter. The choke on the carb is not working, not sure what is wrong, but just pump the gas, and she fires up, no problem isn't that cold out no anyways. It has new points, cap and rotor, new fuel lines. It has plenty of acceleration, no back firing. In my video, it sounds louder then it really is, it has Monza Exhaust, which sounds good, just basically wanted to show you that it does run and drive. Overall the engine is in good shape. The transmission, shifts nice, all 4 gears, are smooth as well reverse. The clutch was replaced, throughout bearing, has new axle boots as well. The transmission feels good, no slop, and stays in the gears, no popping out. The brakes were redone a while back, new rubber lines, and the brakes stop very good, no leaks from the cylinders. Overall, mechanically it is in great shape, drive it anywhere. With that said, be prepared, its a VW they always need tinkering, but they run forever. The tires are newer as well, all match, and have about 98% tread on them, and are worn evenly. The Headlights, and taillights are working, brake lights work. I have not gotten into to much of the electrical. The blinkers are not currently working on it, the switch is all worn out I think doesn't look in good shape. Basically everything wiring wise looks in order under the dash, but lots of things not plugged in or working, in the dash in general, speedo cable missing. The Alternator light turns on when you first start it, and then turns off when you hit the gas pedal, so the Alternator is charging, it also has a brand new new battery in it as well. The interior dome light is not currently working. Again, have not really checked out most of this stuff, was more worried about getting it running, and driving making sure it was reliable. Horn works though!! The body on it is in good shape in general. It has a few dings and small creases, but nothing major. The nose is actually very good, took off the front inner covers under dash and very clean. Took head lights out, and buckets look great. The body when you look down the side is very straight. Someone some time ago painted the drivers door, they didn't do that good of job on itm they also painted the front floor when they put it in. The paint on this bus is old, but overall looks good out in the sun light, it is very straight. Lots of chips and scratches, old paint. No signs of any bondo abuse on it, I have seen inside the inner aprons of wheels, qaurters, inside doors and the sheet metal looks very good. Originally it was that Light green and white, love those colors on old buses. As for rust, it does have some but for a bus it is in great shape. The rust is more so outer body, compared to inner body which is very important. The outside rockers will need to be repaired, they are rusty. The front floor has been replaced sometime back, and they did a decent job. The main floor, is in good shape, but will need to have some rust repair above rocker on the barn doors, you will probably replace that area, about 4" across behind doors. The rest of the floor is in very good shape, has some minor surface rust, but very minor, and very solid. The area above the engine, looks good. What is amazing on this bus, is all the inner walls, look really good, no issues in the framing. When you get underneath the bus, the frame, all the body mounts, all the supports are in really good shape. There are no signs of any major accidents, the floors look good, inside the wheel wells, the wheel arches all look very solid. Inside the engine compartment same thing, very clean, inside the quarters look very good. Right underneath the battery, there are a couple rust spots that will need repaired, but pretty minor. Around the roof gutters, there are some little minor bubbles, the largest one above the drivers window, that is the one that stands out the most, the others are peas size. Around all the windows, no bubbles or issues, very solid. The drivers door very solid underneath, the passenger front door is good, but at the bottom inner corner it is rusted inside the jam, the trunk lid hatch door is solid no rust, the 1st barn door, is solid, the second barn door underneath edge is rusty and needs patch across the bottom. The bottom of the front of the noise of the bus, above bumper has some rust bubbles going on . Overall, this is a solid bus, that will be pretty easy for someone to restore, the rust issuer are easy to get to so that will not be a chore for anyone. Interior, it needs restored, but overall usable currently. The Westfalia items are 1965 Vintage, has a tag on the front. Needs a headliner, or have it lined in birch, it is an open canvas. Overall you can see the general interior condition from the pictures. Windshield wipers are not working, and no radio. I have a 1965 Wiper motor for it that works, so it will run off 12v.
