Vehicle Detail

1954 Willys M38A1 Thank you for viewing my 1954 Willys M38A1 Military Jeep. These are great rigs, been waiting a long time, every since I was a kid to get behind the wheel of a real Military Willys. My dreams of being on MASH have come true. This M38A1, was restored back in 1998, by a gentleman and his family. He served in the Navy in WWII, and was ranked S1. He wanted something he and his family could enjoy, and picked this little Willys. I have a log of all the shows, parades, and Air Shows that they participated in after they got it restored. I never got to meet him, would have loved to, so I could hear the stories. He passed away I believe in 2008 at the age of 81. This jeep is in great shape, its restoration is showing some age, but overall, very useable, and you can drive it anywhere as long as you like to go 45mph. It is street legal, has a clean and clear title, and runs excellent. Odomter Reads 42089, ID number is 71546. The body on this Willys, is in very good shape. The body does not not have any major dents, all the panels are very clean. The Undercarriage is very nice, no rust or repairs. The only rust on this Military Jeep, is right below the axe handle upfront, there are a couple bubbles starting. Overall, the paint is in good shape, but it is not a professional show car paint job or anything, just repainted just to look nice and to keep it one color, probably like they did it back in the day, were not worried about paint qaulity, just keeping them drab green. You may want to repaint it again down the road, personally I would just enjoy it. The floors inside are also very clean as well. The original ID numbers have been removed, most likely by the military, they would do this sometimes from what I have heard. This Jeep is Registered and has a good and clean title, the VIN number or Serial number is the same original production number, 71546, so that is good. You can see were the Willys tag was behind the passenger seat on wheel well. You can these tags reproduced. Overall, a good old jeep, that you can drive and enjoy, show if you like, or just drive it and enjoy it. It runs very good, just reach in, pull the choke, push the gas 2 times, and fire it up, it runs excellent. It does not blow any smoke or burn oil. The gears shift nicely, and the clutch feels great, no issues. The brakes are in good shape, stops very good. All the exterior lights are working, turnsignals, brake lights. The tires, are military issue, and have lots of cracking and cuts on them, you may want to change them down the road but for now they hold air, and seem to be in usable shape. Overal mechanically it is very sound. Has a Correct Hurricane engine in it, MD9078. The engine could use a little detail, but it runs cool, water and oil have been changed no major mechanical issues currently. The 24v system has been changed to 12v. The interior is in good shape, seats do not have any rips or anything. The Top is military issue, has the numbers on it. The windshield wipers all work, gauges, horn are all operational. Even the Red light in dash works as well. Only one gauge lights up as well. The only thing not working is the Gas gauge. Overall, it is a Military interior, in good usable shape. Please read this auction 2-3 times over, this is not a trailer queen, it was built to use and enjoy. With that said, it is a clean Military Issue M38A1 , pretty amazing it has made this far, it is almost 60 years old. Give me call if you need any questions answered, I would be glad to help.
