International customers are welcome to bid ! We’ve sent many cars overseas. Military and Veteran buyers - did you know that USAA is now financing collector cars? Other financing outlets include JJBest This is a wonderfully documented southern California car since new! In 1955, Mr. Charles Leadbetter of San Diego, CA, bought this car from Kettner Packard in San Diego. He owned it until the late 1990's, when he added his girlfriend to the title. After his passing, she sold it to another Southern California Resident, who sold it to the man who would restore it, Leonard LaCaze. Leonard was an engineer, and he wanted to make sure that everything on the car worked. His detailed notes and extensive restoration receipts and bills give testimony to his quest for a fully operational '55 Patrician! Of course, this very thick file is included with the car ! This 1955 Packard Patrician was the top of the line sedan for Packard, with the most powerful 352 Cubic Inch engine, the most luxurious interior, and the most comfortable suspension of ANY car made in '55. The '55 Packard was a huge leap forward for Packard, with a tremendous amount of new features and engineering. This car is fully equipped with:352 V-8 With 4 Barrel carburetor, 260 HorsepowerTwin-Ultramatic Automatic Transmission - 2 speeds with direct drive lockup clutchAutomatic Load leveler suspension, works great!Power Windows, all 4 work great!Power seat - works great forward and back. Power Brakes - completely rebuilt including boosterPower steeringPower Antenna - works great!AM Radio - works great!15" Radial tires, near new with only about 5,000 miles of wear. The Former owner of this car did a nice job restoring it, starting with an excellent California Rust Free black license plate car. It was sold new in San Diego, at Kettner Packard. The paint and bodywork were done with the chrome and trim removed, so the paint got good coverage and there are no tape lines on the chrome. It's a good quality single stage enamel paint job - not a $10,000 paint job, but very nice. The interior was beautifully redone with the exactly correct brocade pattern sourced from SMS vintage fabrics, combined with vynil for the plain sections. New foam was used so the seats are very comfortable. The dashboard is beautiful - bright, brilliant gauges, excellent metal "mesh" dash panel, and excellent dash pad. The tires are near new radials, the brakes are brand new, the car runs beautifully, and it is a delight to drive. The Twin Ultramatic transmission works as it should. The engine is super quiet, it has great oil pressure and the lifters are completely silent, a key point on these '55 Packards. Functionally, this car is AWESOME! The lights work, the turn signals work and cancel, the horn works, the Load Leveller works exactly right, the power antenna works, the radio works, the dash and instrument lights are brilliant, all the guages work, the power seat works forward and back (although not up and down ) The power brakes are ALL new and work great, the wipers work great. Courtesy lights work, so do the heater fans and heater / Defroster. I love it when all of the features work and you can get the idea of how it was back in '55! Oh, the clock isn't working. It is a beautiful car, but it does have a few flaws - the front bumper bars should be rechromed, the rear bumper bar and trunk ornament probably the same. All the rest of the chrome and stainless is very very nice. I noted chips on the paint in a few places, but overall the paint looks very nice. The backside of the front seat was really good, and they didn't re-cover it, so it shows a little discoloration, shown in the photos. The power steering ram leaks a bit. This is an excellent car, with great California history, a comprehensive restoration file, and super operational characteristics. It is definitely ready to enjoy and tour. I urge you to go on the vaultcars.com website, look at the additional photos and watch the VIDEO of the car in operation! However, California law does require the seller to offer a 2 day contract cancellation option on used vehicles with a purchase price of less than $40,000, subject to certain statutory conditions. See the vehicle contract cancellation option agreement for details.
