Vehicle Detail
PRICE SLASHED, REDUCED TO SELL NO RESERVE. Rare first year 1969 KO Honda CT70 minitrail. This is the highly sought after silvertag, with a list of different features not produced on following years. Some of the differences include: Thicker black horn, Thinner handlebar knobs, Sunken speedo red light indicator, Tabs on rims different, Lip on front fender (original re-chromed mint), Wire hole for rear light supply, Only silvertag year '69, Cone tipped muffler end, Title and '69 was last year for California Black plate, as well as several other differences that were phased out later that year. The VIN # on these bikes tell you when they were produced. The U.S. version was first produced on June 26th 1969 as CT70-100001. This bike was a very early #2021 off the line along with it's matching engine. There probably aren't too many left as early as this one in existence. During the initial two month period Honda produced approximately 16,000 of these beauties that had the silvertag. In 9/69 the gov't enforced Honda to replace the silvertag emblem with a secured black plate on the bike which had a VIN# stamped as well as production date. Then they mass produced. Honda made many changes to the bikes over a few short months, this making the Silvertags the rarest by far. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The engine was professionally rebuilt by Gunderson Restorations here in So Calif. Yes it has the rare "diamond" emblem with line above it on the head. It was completely torn down, cases split, all gears and bearings inspected and cleaned, shifting forks replaced, new clutch discs and springs. New piston and rings, lapped, cylinder bored, head rebuilt, new timing chain, gears, chain roller, plug, points and condenser. New gaskets, oil seals oil filter, re-chromed kicker and shifter with new rubber. Complete original rare cone-end re-chromed exhaust pipe in mint condition, with new heat shield. Re-chromed original engine guard, new fuel lines and dip stick and gas cap. Original rebuilt carburetor, all parts polished. All new air filter components. New NOS correct green battery with black top (dry no acid ever in it) and battery cover. All new wiring throughout and complete new ignition. List goes on and on, consider it done. WHEELS, TIRES & DRIVE Brand new Bridgestone tires and new tubes with less than one mile on them. NOS correct #8 bolts throughout the bike that were zinc plated. Original wheel parts were professionally restored as they are silvertag exclusive, and new Honda rims were installed. New wheel bearings, grease, seals, brake shoes, polished backing plates, new chain and sprockets, re-chromed brake pedal, new springs, new brake switch, new rubber rear sprocket dampeners and dust cover, and more stuff for sure. FRONT END New fork reflectors, fork boots, seals, polished triple clamp, new chrome steering stem nut, correct #8 fork bolts. New head bearings, handlebar grips, original levers, new horn button and dimmer switch and bars. All new cables. Original silvertag handlebar thinner knobs. There is a lot more that was either redone or replaced. BODY & FRAME The original frame was in very good condition to begin with--no rust no dents. It was completely glass beaded and then prepped and professionally custom painted to the highest degree of restoration grade quality. The paint was professionally applied by Mike Hogan, owner of "VINTAGE HONDA PAINTING" in Long Beach Ca. The paint is an exact match using the custom "house of Kolors" Candy ruby red. The pictures don't do it justice--the paint looks wet in person. Flawless!!! Mike has painted many bikes for me in the past and it is worth the price and time it takes. All new decals, new seat, many many more new and reconditioned original parts were applied to this beautiful bike and 100's of hours of work went into this bike. It starts immediately and rolls through the gears as if it were a day old. This is a very early original matching numbers bike with only 346#'s between frame and engine. BIDDING I'm going to start the bidding at $4500, which is thousands less than I have in this bike. Please be sure you really want this bike and are willing to pay for it at auction end and ask all questions before the end--you have 7 days to ask so please ask. Can't ship overseas, North America only and no schemes with bank notes and fancy delivery scams etc, please.
