Vehicle Detail

1995 Laguna Blue Miata for Parts/Project car I am selling my 1995 Laguna Blue Miata with 197k miles. I have owned it for the past 16 years, and drove it daily until last year. It currently is not drivable, and has not been driven since last summer, because I threw a rod through the side of the block. Mechanically, everything else on the car was in good condition before I destroyed the first cylinder from an over-rev when I caught 2nd gear instead of 4th. I hate to get rid of her, but we just bought a house, and with all the house project I have going, I know it will be years before I can get to the Miata. If you are looking for a project car to do a V8 or EV conversion, this would be a great candidate. It already has the upgraded suspension for the extra weight. The Miata has a clean title with only a minor wreck (<$1k in repair) on its record. The Good: There are a lot of new parts on the car. Less than 3 months before the engine blew, I replaced the battery (regularly cycled on a charger), the front ball joints, the motor mounts, the drive shaft, the clutch slave cylinder and the convertible top (dark blue top from Cabrioworld). The 5-speed manual transmission only has about 75k miles on it, and is out of a ’99. The OEM style clutch has <30k miles on it.The car was a B-package Miata that came with A/C (was fully functioning), power windows, cruise control & Torsen limited slip differential, and they all work fine. The car has Cusco Comp-S height adjustable coilovers with less than 50k miles. The spring rates for these are 6 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm back (or about 335 lb/in and 280 lb/in). They ride much smoother than you would expect for their stiffness. The original muffler was replaced with a custom made 2.5” cat-back with a Thermal R&D 7” round muffler and 3” exhaust tip that allows the spare tire to be mounted underneath like the old CanDoo exhausts. (Warning: It is a straight through muffler set-up and it is loud).Hella driving lights with the OEM factory fog light switch that had to be ordered from a dealer in Japan.KG Works Aluminum Gauge pod with white gauges and aluminum shift knob & brake handle.Blue/Black Wet Okole neoprene seat covers (they are starting to wear out though, and need to be re-waterproofed).Tweeters are custom mounted in the A-Frame so as to bounce the treble off the windshield (amazing sound imaging). The Bad: The engine is blown. The short block, and everything within, is unusable. The cylinder head is salvageable though. There is one bent valve in the 1st cylinder that would have to be replaced (and the guide), but otherwise everything else is OK, and the whole engine had been rebuilt less than 10k miles ago (including all belts, hoses & drive train fluids). The body has some dings and the original paint is wearing out, particularly on the hood and around the windshield. A couple years ago, I rubbed the Miata against a shelf unit in my garage and left a dent on the passenger side fender. Also, about 7 years ago, my wife was bumped from behind at a light by a truck. The plastic license plate panel was cracked and the original muffler broke. Driving it home, the muffler overheated the bumper cover and warped it a little on the right side. I have a replacement panel and bumper cover for the car that are included. I never installed them because I just never got around to getting them painted. The interior could use a little work. The interior door panels need to be replaced or rewrapped in new vinyl. The light grey that is on them now was done to match the prior top, but they have started to stain. Also, the rubber seals at the top of the doors have hardened and slow down the power windows. I have about 50 more photos here. I live in Lakeland, FL just a few miles from I-4 (halfway between Orlando and Tampa). The Miata would have to be picked-up at my home with either a car dolly or a trailer. I have left the bad block in it so that it can be transported easily without having to carry the transmission/drive shaft separately. I do not have any way of transporting the Miata anymore, so it is pick-up ONLY. Any kind of transport service would have to be arranged by the buyer, and would have to be loaded by the service at my home. I would need a $300 non-refundable deposit through PayPal within 48 hours, and the rest on pick-up. I accept cash and certified check, and I will need to verify all payments before the title is released. I would like to have the Miata picked up within 7 days, but I can be flexible as long as you keep me informed about when you can get it. On Feb-21-13 at 15:47:52 PST, seller added the following information:I have had several questions about having the Miata shipped. I have no problem with a shipping company picking up the car. They just need to be willing to pick it up at a private residence and have the ability to load a car that cannot be driven on their trailer/hauler. My driveway and the road out front are nice and flat, so the Miata can be hand-rolled into position. I just do not have a way of trailering it to a central loading station. I am willing to work with the time delays this may cause, I just want to be kept informed about the status. Also, last night while taking some pictures, I noticed that the driver's rear brake caliper has a small leak. It appears to be from the seal, and just needs a seal kit. It appears to be minor, the brakes still hold fine when applied, but I wanted it noted. It is the only thing (other than that big hole in the block) that I know is mechanically wrong, but since this is an 18 year-old car with 197k miles, that has been sitting since last summer, it is sold as is.
