Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING!!! THIS IS A NO RESERVE SALE - HIGHEST BIDDER WINS! Up for sale is my private vehicle - a 2003 BMW 745Li. This BMW has absolutely every option offered for the year...Navigation, Logic7 amp, Privacy Curtains, Heated/Cooled and Massage Seats, Soft Close Option on all doors etc.etc. I will not enumerate in detail every option it has. We have owned this vehicle since 02/2010, 3 years. It was bought in Los Angeles, Ca. It has been driven mostly by my wife and me whenever we came to our Winter Vacation Home in Scottsdale, AZ. It's never seen snow, hail or rain - it was always garaged...We have recently sold our home in Scottsdale and the car has to go. I no longer have the place to store it and my 3 car garage is gone. The BMW has been parked/stored in our home for the last 6 months (last time I did the AZ emissions) and I was in Scottsdale. The car is current on registration, has plates and is insured. I had a hard time starting it last weekend, after 6 months of sleep, the battery was very weak. It took a charge and started, but if left without the engine running and the light on for a period of time it will show the famous: "Battery Needs Recharging". It seems to hold a charge fine, as we have been driving it all weekend, but be warned - it will need a battery. I have changed the original BMW battery about 2 years ago, but the crazy heat in AZ does a number on the cells. Unfortunately this vehicle runs everything from the battery, so any voltage drop starts throwing lights on. We had the Parking/Emergency Brake on while the vehicle was in the garage. When the car started, I released the Parking Brake, it released fine but the "Parking Brake Malfunction Light" came on...As you will see from the video posted below, the light goes off after the car runs for a while (maybe battery reaches normal levels?), but then comes back...When I purchased the BMW I opted and bought a 3 rd party warranty (3 years). I strongly encourage you, if interested in this type of a vehicle, to get one. The car is still eligible for extended warranty since is under 100K. Since I have owned this car I have replaced the following (Don't Laugh!): Tires, Brakes, Rotors, Water Pump/Thermostat/Fluid, Fuel Filter, AC Compressor, Belts, Chain Tensioner, Transmission Plastic Cover/Filter and new BMW Fluid, Emission Control Air Pump, Vacuum Pump, Accelerator Pedal Module, throttle body Logic7 AMP, CrankCase Ventilation Upgraded Kit, CrankCase Diaphragm and finally the 10K part - The Bimmer Pipe!!!! (google weep hole leak in BMW 745li). The dealer asked close to $10K for this repair but I did the Bimmer Pipe life time retrofit for $1400 labor and $500 for the pipe. I have 2 boxes full of replaced parts (see pictures) Over the three years I have owned this car I probably made the owner of Bavarian Tech in Scottsdale a Rich Man...I love this car, unfortunately this is simply the most complicated, moody vehicle I have ever owned! However, I still think its one of the best looking vehicles on the road today - I do not like the 2006 and up models. At startup the BMW will also display the Driver Side Restraint Warning (SRS). I have changed the seat SRS module - under the seat and the Passenger side Tensioner Module - the light went off for exactly 2 days then the warning came back. The tech mentioned that the module may have to be coded to the vehicle's VIN - in any case it never bothered me, and I simply gave up on it. If you are not mechanically inclined, or know a mechanic or date a mechanic or buy an extended warranty - this car may NOT be for you! It will throw a "service engine soon" for using the wrong gas - it really likes Chevron 91, but hates Conoco or Arco! I had the infamous "service engine soon" for not tightening the gas cap enough...At present, no warning lights are on - other than the Parking Brake. Last time the Service engine soon light was on was for the "low threshold in Bank 1 and 2" - the shop changed the CrankCase Ventilation pipes and it went out but came back about 50 miles later - then it just went out by itself again...The weak battery is the first thing I would do - it seems to cure a lot of problems - I changed the OEM BMW Battery with a NAPA Heavy Duty, but I don't think it keeps up with the car. The battery is probably still under warranty, I think? Before buying this type of vehicle, please join a specialty forum - such as Bimmerforums. It makes life easier and its good reading...The car starts right up and runs great (will need the 90K service - plugs, coils), all the interior electronics function as the should...The power seats have so many positions and options that it will take a day to figure out what is best for you! It has the Cooled/heated/massaged seats - neat. The Navigation system was updated and so was the Body Module Software when we did the transmission cover. The Navigation system is hard to operate, in my opinion, so I never really used it. The IDRIVE joystick works as it should, the Radio/Cd works as it should. The Xenon lights work and so do the fog lights. The suspension is good, the vehicle does not pull to a side or other. The tires are all Pirelli Zero's and are EXPENSIVE!!! there is probably 60% thread on them. The brakes have about 80% life, the rotors were done when we bought the car - so their expected life may come to an end at the next brake job. The paint is still very nice, no issues. It has dings here and there, and I have pointed them out in the pictures. The Driver side tail light has a crack on the bottom (water doesn't get in it) and the bumper has a spider crack in it on the same side (my wife backed into a golf cart at the golf course). Yes, even with the parking sensors! The passenger side vent has popped out from the heat, tried to glue it but didn't work. Its not noticeable unless you pull on it. The transmission shifts perfectly and is very smooth - we have updated the transmission software on it also. The interior is very nice, clean, no stains or rips. The 115 degree heat in Scottsdale did a number on the plastic/rubberized coating on the plastic body panels...basically the upper rubberized coating peel or burns off. The exterior moldings are affected by the heat also - mainly the rear one (trunk) and the side of the door. I am surprised that this car can take the 115 in the summer and 27 degrees in the winter. The car will come with one Original FOB key and the Owners Manual on CD (don't think they have it on paperback anymore). Clean and Clear AZ Title in my name - no surprises, no issues. Please understand the following: This vehicle is being sold as is and where is - I offer no warranty or guarantees written or implied with the vehicle (basically - you buy it - IT' YOURS!). I am not a wholesaler, car dealer, shop etc etc, I do not offer a money back period/window. This vehicle is being sold to the highest bidder - NO RESERVE! I am simply no longer inclined to maintain or tinker with this type of a car. I have nightmares about warning lights that come on. I no longer have the patience or will to read/scan/change parts or see mechanics. I have reached my limit. However, in all honesty, this has been the only car that NEVER actually broke down on the side of the road. It has every possible warning light, but never shut down on me. The good: Luxurious 745LI, every option possible - it runs and drives. The Bad: the headaches of fixing and diagnosing warning lights, it will need a battery before anything. By the time you are reading this the Service Engine Soon may have come back...Please, please read about these vehicles before bidding or buying one - parts are starting to be cheaper (even available on ebay) It's the labor that kills you! If you think that you will simply take it to the dealer for repairs - forget it! Buy something else! The dealer charges $125.00/hr or $275.00 for an oil change that costs no more than $60.00. Understand that this is a 9 year old vehicle - it is not PERFECT! If you expect perfection, this is not for you. I have tried my best to describe the flaws and history of the vehicle to my best possibilities. Take a close look at the pictures and the video - What you see is what you get. I have the pictures in higher resolution on Photobucket also - email me for a link. I expect a non-refundable paypal deposit in the amount of $500.00 at the end of the auction! Not the next day or week - at the end! If the deposit is not received, I reserve the right to cancel your bid. The remaining balance is to be paid in Cash or Bank Wire/Money Order. The vehicle will not be released unless the funds clear! You may fly into Phoenix and pick up the car or have it shipped - it is entirely your option! Once you drive the car away - it's yours!
