You are bidding one one 1971 Series One Datsun 240Z. Low serial number 18713. Numbers matching. CLEAR TITLE. It is a project car. DOES NOT COME WITH REAR HATCH GLASS OR HATCH INNER TRIM PANEL, CYLINDER HEAD, VALVE COVER, STEERING WHEEL, CONSOLE, SEATS, RADIATOR OR CARB SETUP. I will include a steering wheel with car that works, just not the one in pictures. IF IT IS NOT PICTURED IN PHOTOS THEN I DO NOT HAVE IT AND IS NOT AVAILABLE. What you see is what you get. No battery. California car originally and had an E31 head which I kept for myself and "might" sell for the right price. I have the original smog pump and intake fitting if seller is interested. The car ran and drove before pulling head. See video. This has terrible rust. Previous body replacement panels installed over original body panels...yes....an idiot was at work at some point. Pictures show where someone went to town with a grinder to the entire body. It was a horrible experiment. Consider all panels worthless, even the hatch did not escape the grinding maniac. I painted it with some rustoleum silver to stave off any further rust. Basically, rockers were installed over rockers, rear quarters over rear quarters. Of course passenger frame rail and floor is totally shot. Areas behind seats are rusted as well. Typical datsun Z rust. Here are the details: ENGINE: Compression was 145-145-150-150-150-145 COLD, while head was still on, with weak battery used to crank over. Consider numbers to be higher if I would have had a better battery at the time of test. CYLINDER HEAD, VALVE COVER, RADIATOR, CARB SETUP NOT INCLUDED IN SALE. The engine ran well before head came off. Head gasket was leaking some oil at one spot, other than that things seemed OK. I had engine running on auxiliary gas tank. I believe the tank in the car is actually fine, just never hooked it up to see. Gas smells ok inside the tank. Heater core is bypassed. not sure if it is leaking or not, got it that way. TRANSMISSION: 77-79 5 speed. Shifts well, clutch good. No issues. INTERIOR: All vinyl in pretty good shape. Headliner nice. Sunvisors great. Rear plastic panels fair to good. Driver side is nice except for a small crease near bottom, passenger side has a crack near the top but is hard to see. You would not notice. ALL THESE PIECES ARE WORTH MORE THAN I AM ASKING FOR THE CAR. Dash has typical cracks in the top. Heater panel face has been cut at bottom for aftermarket radio like most of them. Headliner is nice! STEERING WHEEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN SALE. I will supply one that works though, just not the one pictured. ELECTRICAL: Running Lights, License Lights, Interior Lights, Dome Light, Reverse Lights, Wipers, Heater Fan all working. Horn, Turn Signals, Headlights, Hazards, Temp Gauge, Clock all not working. Tachometer is jumpy. CHASSIS: Rear brakes not working. Lines are unhooked. E-Brake not working. Front brakes work well. Passenger frame rail/battery box area/passenger floor is very rusty with a previous floor repair done. Driver side t/c area has some corrosion as well and some along the front engine rail just at the top of the rail. SEE PHOTOS. Jack points are weak, but suspension pickup points are good. Car comes with Altima wheels and tires as shown. The offset is not quite right so they rub the struts a little, so it's a little hard to push around, but will roll with some umphf. BODY: Not good at all. Doors are decent, but like I said, the grinding maniac went to town and ruined everything. Panels have been installed over original panels, a stupid, stupid attempt. REAR HATCH GLASS IS NOT INCLUDED IN SALE. Windshield is broken, door glass is good. Driver window regulator works great going down, but you have to really help it on the way up. Not sure what the problem is exactly. Keys do not fit door locks but do work ignition switch. Bumpers are decent. The grinder maniac also cut the drip rails off the roof for a "smooth-look." WHAT WOULD I DO: Not sure. If you want to restore an original series one Z, the matching engine is here with the chassis for a cheap price. Otherwise, I guess you could always use the 5 speed, wiring harness, glass, doors, vinyl and rear plastic panels, or just use this for parts as needed. Just need it gone to make room for other projects. I can assist with delivery within a couple of hundred(NOT THOUSANDS) of miles for a fee. 500 miles is not a couple for example.
