Vehicle Detail

This is a no-reserve auction for the Last of the Long Hoods. This matching numbers 1973.5 Porsche 911T CIS looks great and makes all the right noises. It runs and drives like a 40 year old solid, German built sportscar from Zuffenhausen should. It is the rare color combination Light Yellow (Color code 117) with black interior. It is all original, unrestored, unmolested, modified or backdated. Owing to its years as a California car it has the original floor and front pans intact with solid battery boxes and chassis. Early Porsches abhor going years without being driven. For the past 13 years it has been garage kept, owned and driven regularly by an 80 year old Porschephile. As such it is a true runner and mechanically, this 911 is solid. The motor and gearbox both run flawlessly, it runs/shifts/brakes/handles as well as any early 911. This example was optioned from the factory with 5 speed transmission, radio, Alloy rims Fuchs 7x15 rear 6x15 fronts. Sway bars front and rear 15mm. This 911T is an ideal candidate to restore or even better, turn key and enjoy right now. It is an clean example which has seen no hot-rodding or rgruppe backdating. Paint was resprayed original color in 1998 and is very presentable. Correct front and rear bumperettes for a 1973.5 911T. There are several imperfections and small spots that have been touched up which makes this an even better example to drive. Includes 3M stone chip guard on front of hood. There is some light surface rust at bottom edge of front and rear valence. Some paint blisters around the right front fender. There is no structural rust. A section of the engine grill is discolored where a badge was removed then that area was masked from the sun. Normal wear and tear on interior and a classic rich patina on the leather seats. Factory door pockets are complete and in great shape. There is a tiny crack near the speaker grille on the dash. The original targa top is without tears below or above. There are no chips on any glass. The odometer shows 42,297 miles but the true mileage is unknown. The strong motor pulls like it did from the factory. It has just had the oil and transmission serviced. There is no smoke or unusual noises (see video of engine running at link below). The shifting doesn't grind in any gear. Engine has Carrera pressure fed tensioners, turbo lower valve covers, also installed is a factory oil cooler with thermostat and lines running back to front nicely done. The extremely reliable fuel injection for this one year only set the standard for Porsche reliability from then on. In the second half of 1973 Porsche transitioned from MFI to CIS for fuel delivery, the CIS cars are generally considered the best early car for daily driving. Drives tight on boge front and rear struts and shocks, turbo tie rods add to the great handling. Included are original jack and tool kit complete down to spare fan belt, collapsible spare and air compressor in trunk. Also included is original owners manual, binder, key fob and radio information. Comes with spare new oil filter and re-cleanable K&N filter. All the chrome and stainless targa bar are in great shape. No drama here. This car comes with a clean Connecticut title and bill of sale. The whole package is simply ready to drive and fall deeply in love with. This was in an effort to drive interest. I hope that was effective. Judging by what long hood 911Ts are going for in the market this is firmly a $30-40k car due to its original condition and the rare light yellow. I hope it sells in that range but I wanted to be transparent about the selling strategy and look forward to working with the winning bidder on the final sale. One day left!On Jan-28-13 at 12:49:48 PST, seller added the following information: An update on shipping: Prefer to sell within the United States but buyers from Canada, Germany, France, UK and Japan are ok. Buyer must arrange for all shipping details.
