I purchased this last year for my 16 year old son. My wife noticed that it doed not have a driver side airbag, and wanted it replaced. I've purchased a 1991 Volvo 240 to replace it. This Volvo has a few creaks and rattles, but always starts right up and gets you where you are going. Does not burn oil or use oil. Overdrive works perfectly. In the last six months, the following work has been done... New Battery New right and left ball joints New right tie rod Four wheel alignment Fuel Filter Front Tires (Goodyear) Air Filter New Paint The a/c needs a charge every summer, but everything is there. There is a loose wire in the tailgate. If you turn on the rear wiper, rear defrost, or slam the rear tailgate with the car running, you will blow a fuse. The dash lights do not work. I have not looked into any of these issues. Like most Volvos, the check engine light is on, but the car runs great. The odometer broke at 115K. Car has an after market am/fm cassette player that works good. The door speakers were replaced with speakers from a newer Volvo that are bigger than they should be. The sound good, just don't fit right. This car has been a spare car for the previous owner and used rarely by my family. I'm estimating the mileage to be 150K, but true mileage is unknown. The clearcoat was peeling on the hood and roof. I had the top surfaces repainted the orginal color from the side trim up. The car is original below the trim and has some scratches, dings and chips. This has always been a Virginia car and therefore has no rust issues. I have over $3000.00 invested in the car, but the reserve is below that amount. The car is available for inspection in the Richmond area. Please do not bid if you are not serious about purchasing this car.
