1937 Chrysler Imperial Rumble Seat Coupe NO RESERVE Thank you for considering this 1937 Chrysler Imperial Rumble Seat Coupe, this is a very rare car today. The production for the Imperial Rumble Seat Coupe was extremely low when produced, with only 225 built from the factory. The Imperial is a special car built by Chrysler, and they were famous for their Art Deco Styling in these years. The styling on this cars body is just absolutely beautiful, with it gourgous slopping roof line, long nose, what a car. Everyone that shows up at my shop, just get drawn to it, because it is such an interesting car with great lines, not many mastered this look back in the 1930's like Chrysler did. How many of these cars exist today, darn few. This is a vehicle that you can drive and enjoy, it is not a trailer queen, the paint is probably around 30-35 years old on it from my best quess, it is old laquer paint, that has plenty of patina. With that said, you will be showing it just the way it is, because it is very unique, and you will probably be the only one with one at most events. From 20' feet away it looks great, as you get closer you start to notice some of the paints age. The Imperial has been serviced in the last few years, so it is road worthy currently. Odometer reads 24019, assume it has rolled over at least once. This car is 75 years old, what a time capsule. Mechanically it seems to be in very good shape. It has a Staight 8 Chrysler 273 flathead engine. The engine starts right up, and is very quite, you can barely hear it running. It is very smooth running, and has good power. The engine has very good oil pressure, and very good accelleration. It does not burn any oil or blow any smoke out the tailpipe. It starts up everytime, no issues. The transmission is a 3spd manual, with factory Overdrive. The transmissions shifts very nice, and stays in gear, no grinding, clutch feels good. All the brakes were completely rebuilt 2 years ago, also new wheel seals and bearings were all repacked as well. It had about $2500 service work on it in 2010. Back in '99 it had a buch if stuff done as well, Transmission was rebuilt, new clutch, parking brake, shocks, carb rebuilt, muffler pipes, fuel pump, gas tank removed, etc. Overall mechanically it is in good shape. Interior was redone in the 1980's, had new carpet put in 1999. Overall, interior is presentable, shows its age a little bit, but looks very nice. The dash area is all original paint, gauges are all original. This model came with a factory Radio which works great. The speedometer works, but bounces around when you first get going. The odometer works as well. Amp gauge is not working, the Oil Pressure, Fuel, and temp gauge work. Radio works, and speaker sounds good. The Windshield wipers work, the drivers side knob is missing though, but you can still turn it on. Horn works, heater works, fog lamps work, and interior light works. The Cigarette lighter is not working. Emergency brake works as well. The windows roll up and down nicely, and the Windshield kicks out as well, about 3" at the bottom, when you turn the big knob above radio. The rear window does roll down, but you need to help it down a little bit. The cowl vent opens and closes as well. The wiring under the dash, looks good, but could use a little sorting out, to look nicer. Overall interior is clean, and presentable. The gas pedal, sometimes comes off, and you have to put it back, probably needs a new one, it has little balls that snap into place but they are worn out. The body on the car is actually in very nice shape, and very straight. The paint has lots of patina. It is about 25-30 years old my best guess. It is lacquer paint. There are lots of paint chips and imperfections on the car. The vintage lacquer has lots of checking, and crazing. I have put a light magnet all over the car, and it sticks every where in general, except in the very rear down low. The car does has some filler but over does not seem to be abused with filler. The body of the car is not rusty, it is very solid, down low in the doors, and fenders and such. Its one of those cars, that I would call a great driver. Someone in the past tried to touch up the spots were the paint is lifted in areas, but they really did not do that great of job in those areas, but then again, the paint is so chipped in those areas it might have been hard to match it up, more so protecting the metal underneath was more important. The chrome on the bumpers is very nice, the grill chrome has pitting on it. The tires are in good shape, the hubcaps show some wear as well. Overal a good 20' Imperial, there are very few of these cars around today, so finding a good solid car such as this that you can enjoy and drive is a great find. I have been told that only 2 of these cars have been on Ebay since 2007, so they are very rare. Undercarriage is in very good shape, very solid floors and frame. Inside the fenders look great, and very straight. No signs of rust in the inner fenders and in the inner quarter panels all very clean. The frame is in very good shape as well. No signs of any accidents, everything looks very sold, for a vehicle that is 75 years old. ***This vehicle needs a new home. I am currently selling this for a very good friend of mine. He bought it in 2007, and is into it around $39,000 this is a NO RESERVE auction, please if you bid, please have all your funds in order. This is a very rare vehicle, at this time we would like to find it a new home. We have sold vehicles all over the world, I suspect that it may end up in Europe or Australia, I invite International Bidders. It is NOT a trailer queen, but is a nice time capsule , that you would not be afraid to drive, but would also want to park it far away from anyone else in a general parking lot.
