The Porsche 911 SC has long gained a reputation for being an extremely well built, reliable, virtually bulletproof automobile and even more reliable than some of the later 911 models. The Carrera's, 964's and even 993's all had their engine problems - The SC's rightly so, have their 'bullet-proof' reputation. Specifically the 1980 engines were 'optimized', to use the factory's description. The improvements were revised ignition and camshaft timing, a tightening of design tolerances in certain areas of the engine, and an increase in compression ratio to 9.3:1. As well as more power, there was a claimed 10 per cent improvement in fuel consumption. The increase in compression ratio combined with the ignition timing improvements, had the effect to make the new model American SCs more flexible and lively. This car is great for someone looking to get into a reliable daily driver Porsche. The car is not cosmetically perfect like most Porsche enthusiasts would like but it is perfect for someone who wants to drive it around daily and have fun. The car is VERY reliable and the motor runs strong and quick. The paint still shines great but the it DOES have dings and nicks here and there. The interior is in good shape and is comfortable to sit in. This is an original 1981 Porsche 911SC sunroof coupe. This car has a beautiful color combination of blue metallic/tan interior. The car is a great running driver. Mechanically it runs like a beast. It idles great. Runs very smooth and delivers tremendous power. The car shifts like butter and brakes very well and straight.
