Vehicle Detail
This is a classic 1968 Mustang Coupe acquired from a seller in Indiana. It ran and drove well, with no known accident history and had been kept in a garage. About 5-6 years ago I had an exterior paint and interior renovation done. From what I could determine body panels, glass, and chrome appeared all original as do the engine, drive train, and transmission. The engine sounds, idles, and runs well. The transmission shifts smoothly and suspension provides a a nice ride. Mechanically, the following was done: new master cylinder, fuel pump, gas lines, fuel tank, head pipe, brakes, rebuilt power steering pump, new plugs, points and carb adjustments, new rear rails and tourque boxes. I removed the existing interior, had seats recovered in identical saddle color, removed the carpet and re-installed new carpet with sound buffer underneath, new interior door panels in saddle color, repainted interior metal dash in saddle color, new dash bezel, new wood steering wheel, and installed working, OEM vintage Philco AM radio. Appears car was fitted with an air conditioner which was not working and was removed as it also restricted passenger leg room. Car also came to me with an original center console, which was mostly intact, but was removed due to cracks in the soft vinyl trim pieces for it. I would include that with the car should someone want to restore and reinstall. The car is fun to drive and turns heads whether parked or on the road, but with new job, there are fewer opportunities to actually enjoy it. I would rather see someone enjoy the car than have it sit idle. The car has been garaged during the 7 years I have owned it. I probably have put less than 3 thousand miles on it since my purchase. My intent was not to turn this into a "show" car. It is not perfect, but in very good condition for a car approaching 45 years old. It has a nice presentation as the photos demonstrate. A new owner may desire to upgrade engine, transmission for added performance. The six cylinder is economical with gas. A letter from Ford IDs the VIN coding and production date: 12/21/67. It includes the options that came with the car, including the original wire wheel covers. Buyer would arrange for shipping or pick-up of car, as well as that cost, if you are not in the area. I reserve the right to end the auction if sold locally first. Given the age of this car (1968), the state of Maine does not issue title to vehicles with a model year prior to 1995. I do have the bill of sale from the previous owner in Indiana as well as the title certificate from that state. It has been registered in Maine for each of the years I have been the owner. The car is being sold as is, where it is located. The above description is not meant in any way to create an implied or express warranty for this vehicle and no warranty is offered. Payment terms: $500 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close, and the balance is due within 5 days of auction with a certified cashier's check (US bank), or cash, if made in person.
