Vehicle Detail
For auction: 1985 Honda V65 Sabre (VF1100S) This is a 65 cu in (1100cc) DOHC V-4 liquid-cooled motorcycle. The 90-degree angle of the V gives the engine perfect primary balance, making for an incredibly smooth ride. Power gets to the road courtesy of a 6-speed transmission and a low-maintenance shaft final drive. The Honda V-4 combustion chamber design allows it to run perfectly on regular unleaded gasoline despite the high 10.5 compression ratio. I've consistently averaged over 50 mpg, cruising ever-so-slightly over the posted limit. This would NOT be a good beginner's bike – it's simply too powerful for a novice! It held the record as the world's fastest production motorcycle for the year 1984. A few of today's crotch rockets will outrun this vintage Sabre, providing you can stand their cramped riding positions. 0-60 in 3.3 seconds 0-100 in 7.3 seconds, quarter-mile in <12 sec/120mph PROS: - Hondaline case guard with highway pegs. - Corbin seat is custom matched to the black/siver/red color scheme on bike. (I have original.)- National Cycle Plexifairing III windshield (great in cooler weather).- KG luggage rack topped with a 35-liter locking Givi trunk. - Radial tires with good tread. - New battery installed (June, 2011). - Carbs, forks and brakes overhauled by a respected professional (about 100 miles ago). - All hydraulics (clutch & brakes) are solid. - All electrics and instruments* work flawlessly. - Has never leaked a drop of oil. - I have extensive maintenance records. - Original tool kit in place on the bike. * fuel gauge performance is sporadic – I rely on trip odometer – tank up at 200 miles. CONS: - The seat has a rip about an inch long, which appears to be only on the surface. I bought the seat that way in 2004 and the rip has never extended. - A 2-inch diameter dent in the left muffler. - A very small scratch/dent on the upper right side of the tank. I adjusted the bars too low and the hard throttle cable casing scraped it. - Typical minor corrosion under the clear coat on some aluminum surfaces. This is my third Honda V-4 and a fine motorcycle. I'd ride cross-country on it without worries. Turn the key, flip on the choke and touch the starter button – it's running. Medical limitations that have developed over the last few years make riding the bike difficult, so it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
