NO RESERVE 1983 MERCEDES-BENZ 380 SL This is a beautiful 83 380 SL. An eye turner and an awesome cruiser. I bought this car in the hopes of restoring, but due the lack of funds and time I am forced to sell it. I purchased this car from the 2ND owner, who purchased it from an LA used Mercedes Benz dealer. He had stored the car with fluids and gas in the tank for over 6 years. I have gotten the car running but it will need a major tune up, fresh gas and fluids. Its running strong, engine, transmission, and drivetrain are in excellent shape, but due the fact that the registration is not current and the fact that it needs a tune up i would say its not drivable. This is a CA titled clean car, the registration is about 5 years late, so there are going to be late fees. The tires are in decent shape. There are no issues with the body except on quarter sized rust spot on the passenger side front fender. The clear coat from the hood, soft top, and trunk lid is clouded and flaking off in some spots. I recommend a fresh paint job. All chrome pieces are there. The miles on the car are at 152,454. The previous owner lost the keys to the doors and also removed the lock to the trunk. The interior is in really good shape, not tears or major damage to the leather, just normal wear and tear. The dash is cracked but easily restorable, and wood trim is in ok shape. The carpets are clean and in really good shape. The blue interior really matches with the exterior silver, especially with the top down. There is both a Soft top and Hard top for this SL. The hard top is in really good shape, would just need a paint job. the head liner is in EXCELLENT shape. Looks like the original soft top was removed and black soft top was put in its place. There are rips and will need to redone or replaced. I know this is not the original one because the original one would have been blue. So if you are looking for a running SL with a solid body, decent miles, very good interior, and one that with a little amount of work and elbow grease can turn into a cherry this is the one. The most expensive parts on these cars are the engine, drivetrain, and transmission, and this car has excellent ones.
