Vehicle Detail
The Goggomobil TS 2+2 coupe was introduced at the 1957 IFMA show alongside the improved T sedan. It was available as the TS250, the TS300, and the TS400, the number reflecting the approximate engine size in cubic centimeters. The only major design change to the TS coupe was the change from rear-hinged suicide doors to front-hinged conventional doors in 1964.The TS coupe was always ten to twenty percent more expensive than the T sedan. The Goggomobil Cabrio was never put into production. Only a handful were ever made. There are no official records of how many total were made but most believe it was less than 10. There are 2 known to survive, one in Germany and this one. This is the car thats pictured in Goggomobil advertising with the blue cabrio. (See photo). I started restoring it 10 years ago and just never got it done. The only way to get a good look at whats been done is to see the restoration at www.alindoo.com/Cabrio I havent touched it since the Midwest Microcar Meet in Illinois 3 years ago. Its mostly been sitting covered in the garage for the past 7 years. It probably 95% done, I have all the parts that are not currently on it like the engine cover, panels, wiper motor...I have a spare hubcap as these are had to find if you lose one. Things that need to be finished: #1. Side windows were replaced with new ones cut from the coupe pattern. After installing the new custom built cabrio top the glass doesnt fit. They must of had a taller size for the cabrio.(See photo, window is all the way up) #2. Rear panel behind passenger side wheel: Made the mistake of roping it down to a trailer with the rear bumper. It shook so much on the way to the custom top maker that it cracked the paint. (I have new paint, just not the time to fix it) #3. Transmission: Electronic solonoids were replaced along with the front shifter. I can manually shift it from the rear but the front shift knob has problems. Not sure if it need adjusting, bad wires or weak battery. #4. Brakes: I replaced everything, not sure if i ever filled it and got them going but they are not working now. #5. A good check over for loose nuts or bolts. #6. Chrome bumpers were replaced by new ones from Germany, they look pretty good but I dont think the chrome quality is that good. Some deteriation in the chrome and its never gotten wet! Might want to rechrome if you want Concours quality bumpers. (see photo) I just dont have the time or ambition to finish this one besides my 42 year old Jag is going to need an engine/tranny rebuild someday as Im getting tired of all the old oil seals leaking all over the floor. This car finished and in Concours condition could easily fetch over $70,000 at an auction like Pebble Beach, Scottsdale... On Nov-23-12 at 13:11:01 PST, seller added the following information: Added another photo of the parts not shown in the engine compartment for all of you that have asked. I have all the metal panels, air filter holder with air filter, rubber seals around the metal panels, air duct hoses, wiper motor...
