Vehicle Detail
1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 This car is a true SS car! Not a clone. This car was originally built at the Los Angeles GM plant and spent most of it's years in the San Jose area. A few years ago it was purchased by a gentleman in Utah and driven sparingly. Eventually, he put the car away and stored it for the last 6 years in an aircraft hanger. I purchased the car in 2011 and have spent the last year restoring it, enjoying it and showing it where it won an award as recently as last friday night on the 26th. I have restored this car back to its original paint and equipment with the exception of the radio. The body was stripped to bare metal, there were two small rust spots at the base of each front fender, those were cut out and replaced with new metal. This was a california car and was extremely solid. Once the car was pulled apart, it was evident that it had NEVER been in a major accident. The gaps on the doors and the fender clearances are perfect. See below for the options as it came from the factory. Factory Black Cherry paint with black stripes Factory installed cowl induction hood 396 cu. in. 350 hp engine Turbo 400 automatic transmission Heavy duty 4-core radiator and trans cooler 12-bolt positrac Air Conditioning Power disc brakes Factory SS wheels F41 Suspension up-grade Dual exhaust (it appears as though the exhaust was replaced at the time of the engine re-build with dual Flowmasters. It looks and functions fine, so it was not replaced) The following items are new: Interior Carpet Interior headliner Exterior emblems and trim Paint - Base/clearcoat in Black Cherry - NOTE: The body was stripped to bare metal and made lazer straight. Tires Brakes Hoses Belts Alternator Valve covers Battery and cables Headlights Bumpers front and back Suspension parts, A-arm bushings, ball joints, trailing arm bushings. New KYB gas shocks Springs Rear end seals, and bearings Door panels Rhino Lining in the bed. (I Rhino lined the bed, because I like to drive my cars. I planned on taking it to shows and rod runs. I didn't want to scratch up a perfect basecoat/cleared bed with lawn chairs or coolers. The rhino lining works perfectly to protect the bed and it looks great) This car runs and drives like a dream. The engine and transmission are estimated to have approximately 20K since being re-built. This car runs really well and it is a joy to drive. Its fun to see the cowl hood flap open up when you drop the hammer. The AC has just been serviced, this car is ready to run, drive show and go. See below for the terms of sale and please note that placing the winning bid on this car is a binding contract and will be treated as such. Please do NOT bid on this car if you do not intend to buy it. Feel free to contact me by phone in Utah at 801-791-2653 and I will answer any questions you may have. Buyer is completely responsible for all shipping costs to your destination. I will be glad to trailer the car to the shipper of your choice in the Salt Lake area to help you. If you win the car, I require a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24hrs. of the end of the auction and the balance to be wire transferred to my account within 3 days. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell here. Good luck with the auction and thanks for looking.
