Vehicle Detail
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396, M21 4spd, AC, bucket seats, unrestored/unmolested, true 138, numbers matching, (Vin, Engine, body & Trans numbers/pictures attached) odometer says 86000, may be 186,000, title does not have the '0ver 100k' notation. It has probably seen its time as a family car, a hot rod, a mid-life crissis cure and a collection piece. It is an awesome piece of history, an example of when things were simpler and a lot of fun. The 396 runs great, Muncie M21 4 spd, Holly 750 4bl double pumper, (engine numbers are correct for year and model, see below). A few of the gauges are not working. The brakes are the original drum type, with no brake booster. Power steering works great. I have attached a lot of pictures, including vin, engine, transmission and body tag decodes. It was originally painted royal mist metallic, then it was painted yellow and then lastly red. The red paint job was not a quality paint job. A couple pictures show cracked paint at the back of the rear window, which is cracked out paint and not rust. This is also true in the rear quarter panels where the original paint is showing threw, but no rust, they are solid. I did find rust at the left header collector under the drivers feet. It is a very small spot and could be easily/correctly fixed. The rear seat has a seem tear, and a couple wear marks on the sides that are not visible. The drivers seat also has a small tear in the vinyl. The rear deck package (behind rear seat, in front of rear window) has been cut to accommodate 6x9 speakers. Something Im sure was done back in the 70's. The trunk does not have any rust and was sealed at one time. The trunk, door and window seals /molding are original and need replaced. I do have new window felt that just needs installed. The radio hole in the dash was not cut up too bad, a stock radio could easily be reinstalled. I do not have the original AC pump, but the AC unit at the firewall is still intact. The original head pipes are long gone, (replaced by big tube headers), but I do have the original intake manifold, current manifold is an Edelbrock RPM. The knee knocker tach and console are gone, but were original equipment. This vehicle looks, runs and sounds like the epitome of the 60's Muscle Car, because it is. This SS396 is unrestored/unmolested, it could be restored to a show winner or left alone and be a daily driver with style and attitude. The choice is yours. Own a piece of history, and be the envy of everyone! chevrolet chevelle ss396 ss 396 chevelle ss 396 supersport chevy 1966
