For sale is my 1984 Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser. I purchased this FJ60 earlier this year with the goal of doing a stage one restoration with some expedition upgrades. After having a complete, 300-point inspection (cost $500) performed by TLC in Chatsworth, CA, I decided that this vehicle isn't the right choice for me. Here's a breakdown (receipts and copy of the inspection will come with the vehicle): Good Stuff - Classic style and good looks. There isn't a day that goes by when somebody doesn't ask me about my rig when I'm driving it around town. - Security: Comes with LoJack for Classics (retails for $695) - Tune-up done at 156,240 miles - Engine compression is good - Rebuilt transmission at 153,792 miles - New clutch kit at 153,792 miles - Rear differential replaced at 153,058 miles - Front rotors, brake pads, wheel bearings replaced, calipers, rear wheel cylinders, brake shoes and drums replaced at 149,822 - 4x4 works - New carpet (installed just before I purchased it in April 2012, but I do not have the receipt) - Lockable, steel center console w/cup holders from CCOT (retails for $267) - Detachable face-plate Pioneer stereo w/CD player - Does not smoke - Engine mounts are good - Distributor cap, rotor and ignition coil are good - Choke is fully functional - Fuel lines are good - Radiator, belts, water pump and thermostat are good - U-joints are good - Horn, wipers, speakers, defroster, a/c all work (the inspection said that the a/c does not blow cold but I think it is cold and I used it during the heat wave we've had in So Cal since July) Needs Attention - Rust on the frame (see photos for example) - Intake and exhaust manifold inspection and replacement as needed - Leaks power steering fluid and oil from from the valve cover, oil pan and side cover. T/case and trans also have leaks and need new gaskets. - Carb overhaul and timing need to be done (runs sluggish at start, difficulty with hot starts) - Exhaust system should be replaced (cat converter, muffler and mounts) - Front differential has knuckle and pinion seal leaks, and a gasket leak. Front axle seals recommended for replacement. - Needs new springs, shocks, bushings and U-bolts. Shackles are good but if you are doing the suspension, might as well replace those (recommend Old Man Emu suspension) - Steering: recommended new pitman rod, tie rods/links, stabilizer - 2 wheel studs are stripped, one is slightly bent and won't accept the lug nut. - Inspect and replace vacuum hoses as needed. I noticed sluggish braking after driving more than an hour one time, but the inspection did not indicate anything wrong with brakes that would cause sluggish braking, but there are some issues with the vacuum hoses, so those should be inspected. There are several other items (mechanical and cosmetic) that would need to be replaced to complete a restoration, however the items above are the things that stood out the most to me from the inspection. I will provide the complete report upon request, but it has to be emailed to you (it's more than 20 pages long). I am moving, so I need to sell this quickly.
