Vehicle Detail

Plymouth Police / Patrol Car with working period correct chrome motor driven siren and working bubble light ( Federal Sign and Signal Corporation Beacon Ray lamp). This car is from Tennessee and I want to believe that one of its first duties was to make a disturbing the peace arrest on Elvis! No proof or history available to determine if it was ever used in service as a police or patrol car or if it had arrested Elvis. You can see under the paint on both doors above the stainless a imprint of "POLICE" also it appears that the drivers door was white at one time. So maybe it was used in service. You will have to decide on that aspect. This car has the powerflight Automatic and the 260 cubic inch V-8 with the 2 bbl factory 167 bhp. This is a one year only automatic on the dash with the lever. The following year they had the push button automatic transmission. The two speed transmission works and takes some time to get in high gear, but I have talked to other owners of Mopars of this vintage they describe the same delay. I have found that you can let off the gas and it will shift to high gear earlier. The radiator, muffler, carburator and the brakes( shoes and cylinders) have all been replaced this year. The car runs good and has been a fun car to take to events, parades and shows. The car has been converted to 12 volt. I have been charging the battery between drives as I have some sort of issue with it not charging that I have not had diagnosed yet. The video of the car running and demonstrating the light and siren is from 10/21/12 and can be viewed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMYHavL6x8E&feature=youtu.be The car is not restored, but is complete and has been maintained. I just used the car in a wedding last weekend to take the bride and goom to a rehersal party on about a 30 mile round trip. Guages work - speedometer is just about perfect compared to my GPS. Interior lights not working. Car is very solid top and bottom. Vinyl decals ordered here on eBay and the fellow charged $50.00 for the set. The decals can be customized to your state or area. I would like to get more for it, but I will start the bidding and reserve at only $5500 and I will sell it to the high bidder. It has a clear NC title that is in my name - this is my car- you are dealing with the owner. Feel free to give me a call so I can answer any of your questions about this cool old ride: 252-916-4367 A fellow eBayer from Tennessee just emailed me the following information: "I'm from Cleveland TN. In 1955 my now deceased neighbor was a local county deputy. He has shown me pics of those old days. His patrol car was a '55 Plymouth, bought late in the year. His car had a larger V8 260". Same roof bubble as yours. He said that State Troopers clocked his car at 122 MPH. The sheriff's Plymouth was bought early in the year with a 240" V8. I think he said the cars were bought locally however Chattanooga is only 30 mi. away."
