Vehicle Detail

I AM GOING TO TAKE A HUGE RISK! THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS AUCTION. THERE IS A "BUY IT NOW " PRICE, BUT THAT WILL GO AWAY WITH THE FIRST BID (IF I UNDERSTAND EBAY RULES CORRECTLY). 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood 60S 4-door Sedan. This is a nice driver that I believe to be low mileage (less than 61,000). It is not a show car. It is a very nice survivor that has had a re-paint and some cosmetic restoration. I believe that it is all original and all there (except for the restoration parts that I have substituted in). It has had a recent brake overhaul. Wheel and master cylinders changed, drums turned, most lines replaced. It was just tuned up with the addition of a breaker-less, electronic ignition (hidden by the original type distributor cap). I bought all new window switches. Not all are installed and at the moment only the master switch at the driver's side work. The upholstery appears to be original and is in good condition. (the front carpet could stand changing and there are some water stains on the front seat). The speedometer, odometer, tripometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge all work. The ammeter does not work, but a mechanic tested the generator and says that it is charging. The radio and clock are original and intact but do not work. A few other things I have noticed that could use attention: 1. External door handle sags on driver's side. 2. Front door on passenger side needs adjusting-hard to shut. 3. Steering wheel in is nice condition, but has a space where the plastic has a gap. 4. Door lock button on driver's door not working. 5. Needs new bulb and wiring attached for license light (has new bezel) 6. Needs blinker installed (part included). The transmission is a 3-speed Hydramatic. It seems to me that it shifts early in Drive, but I have not driven similar cars to compare. (I use Low if I need to move out quickly.) I dive it regularly at speeds up to 70 mph. It handles nicely. The engine starts quickly, runs smoothly and quietly. This is the same engine/transmission combination used by the US in tanks during WWII. General Motors had lots of experience to get the bugs out of these items. This is the most reliable of the 6 classic cars that I own. What does it need: 1. Bumpers re-chromed; 2. New front carpet, 3. Some work on the electrical supply to the power window switches and the front switches for the cabin light (the back door switches work well.), 4. Installation of the new tail light reflectors that I have for it.; 5. Repair of ammeter. What could it use: 1. Re-chroming of chrome plated trim; 2. Polishing of stainless steel trim; 3. Repair of radio and clock; 4. New wiring; 5. Everything if you want a trailer queen. I am doing with this car what I have done with many: Buy it, fix it up, sell at a loss. I need to develop a new pattern, but you are set to take advantage of this "last time, I promise dear wife" event. Please call with questions, requests for additional photos, etc. Bill 210-347-5295 OF COURSE, THIS IS A NO WARRANTY SALE. "AS IS WHERE IS". PLEASE COME AND LOOK AT IT IF POSSIBLE! YOU WILL PROBABLY FIND PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE MISSED.
