Vehicle Detail
1969 MG C Roadster: This mineral blue MGC was not running when I bought it. My plan was to get it running and keep it as a driver. I don't have a practical place to keep it, and it has to go ASAP! This is a NO RESERVE auction--it will sell in 7 days! My loss is your gain! This is a great little car! **car is in Ann Arbor Michigan** This car is a wonderfully solid project. Someone who is mechanically inclined could spend a weekend and get this baby on the road. It might not even take a weekend, I suspect the brakes just need to be bled. The body on this car is fantastic. You can lift the alloy bonnet with a pinkie finger. So many of these cars have been covered in bondo--not this one. The MGC roadsters are a very rare car--ESPECIALLY with the four speed transmission. An automatic car sold last week on Ebay for 16,000. For 10,000 you could make this one nicer than that car and its the much more desirable four speed! This is a super opportunity, my loss is your gain. The car is advertised locally for $6,000 and I reserve the right to end the auction early. As you can see from the photo--I do not have a garage at my house. I had a place arranged to keep the car nearby, but once I got it running I found out the brakes are not working. I go to school full time and I just don't have the time, or a place to work on it. For all I know the brakes just need to be bled. Right before the pedal gets to the floor you get just a little grab. The fellow I bought the car from had owned it for 10 years, and it was in his family for a long time before that. He replaced all the fuel lines and replaced the gas tank. They look brand new. He also said he had the brakes all gone through. I don't know if this is true, given the state of things, but the master cylinder looks pretty good. This is why I think maybe the brakes just need to be bled. I've never bled brakes before, so I don't know. As you can tell from the photos, the car looks great from five feet. Mineral blue is, in my opinion, by far the best color for MGCs. The color is why I bought this car. The hoop around the nose and the driving lights really set this one off. The interior is very nice. The carpets look new. The tires look pretty much new, they have great tread. The body on this car is very, very straight. The paint job was pretty clearly an amateur type job/ cheap respray. It looks good at 5 feet but has some imperfections in it. All the gaps line up really, really well in the doors, rockers, hood and trunk. There is no rust bubbling through on the body. The seams behind the hood are perfect, the best I've ever seen on an unrestored car. The car leaks zero oil. It had sat in the same place in the previous owner's garage and there was not even a drip on the floor. The transmission shifts smoothly and quietly and the clutch is great. I think, given the condition of the body, that the 57,125 miles on this car could very well be original. I am trying to be very honest in how I describe this car. If you look at the photos I took pictures of the flaws in the paint and what rust is on the car. I think the car is best described as being a weekend of tinkering away from a "driver". This is a perfect winter project for an MG guy with some time on his hands. Here is a list of the things I have noticed that are wrong with it. There is some rust on the floors on the underside. This is very well represented in the photos. Its not all the way through, the actual floor boards are very solid. There is some rust on the passenger side battery box. I didnt even notice it until I was replacing the battery this week. there are a few large scratches in the paint (all photographed) that the previous owner told me were from the car cover he had on it for transport. There is a crack in the windshield. There is some cracking in the dashboard (on the top). The radio isnt connected and needs a new faceplate (the dials are missing and so is the part that shows the frequency). The brakes are not working. The carbs need a little bit of tune. I drove it around the block and if you really get on the gas it is starving a little bit. Just needs some adjustment I am sure. The top frame is very nice, but the top is the original top for the car and badly needs to be replaced. The rear plastic is shot and very stiff. One headlight is out. The alternator needs to be replaced I think. When the car is on the alternator was smoking. I unplugged it and didnt mess with it. As far as I can tell, that is all that is wrong with it. The muffler needs to be replaced. Its got a hole in it. I have tried to describe this car as honestly as possible, and to take photos that truly represent its condition. I strongly urge any interested buyers to come and inspect the car BEFORE buying it. Your bid is a binding contract to buy the car. If you would like to see the car, or would like to ask me any questions, please call my cell at (401)965-6150. The car is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
