Here we go again, for some reason people are bidding on this beauty but do not have the funds to complete the transaction. Please have your funds in order before bidding, thanks. This Lincoln Continental Convertible has been stored for the last 30 years. My uncle had planned to drive it in parades, but never got around to fully restoring it. It is not in showroom condition, and it will need some work to call it fully restored. If your planning on taking it on a cross country trip it will need new tires and probably a carburetor rebuild. It is all original and the numbers are matching.....It starts, runs, drives, and shifts. Motor runs fine and does not smoke or knock. The top will not come down sometimes and will need to be serviced. The top itself is in great condition and has no rips. The back bumper is missing a top chrome piece, the bottom chrome piece has dings on it. The back bumper is fine, ( see pictures ). One of the the front bumper corners is scratched and has a hole covered up with aluminum tape. The front bumper itself is in good condition. The trunk will open, but there are 42 relays and switches that need to be tested for it to operate properly. She only has 28,755 original miles and would be a great investment. They only made 2857 of these........ All fluids have been checked and changed....... She has one ding in the center of the hood.........The clock does not work. ......It has a new Interstate Battery..........All the power windows work. The horn and wipers work. The original A/M radio works. There has been some body work done on the rear quarters that I can tell. The underside has some surface rust , but no rusting through. The rear right passenger window is not the right size so it does not line up right. I have the original frame to the original window. The car will roll while in park, and emergency brake is not working. The car was repainted over 20 years ago. Once again this is not a new car off the show room floor. It is over 50 years old.So just shoot me a question by E-mail or by calling direct @ 309 231 5586...Thanks for looking.....Good Luck.....God bless.... She only 28,755 original miles and would be a great investment, good as gold. ..........They only made 2857 of these...........The Lincoln Continental is a model name that has been used several times by the Lincoln division of Ford for their top of the line luxury cars. For most of its lifetime, the Continental nameplate referred to the four-door Lincoln flagship. In 1981 the Continental's reign as the Lincoln flagship ended when the Town Car, a trim-level up to then, took over as the new flagship. In 1961, the Continental was completely redesigned by Elwood Engle. For the first time, the names Lincoln and Continental would be paired on a car other than one in the Mark series. The design was originally intended to be the new 1961 Ford Thunderbird, but the concept was enlarged and slightly altered before being switched to the Lincoln line by Robert McNamara. One of the most striking features of the new Continental was its size. It was two feet shorter than its predecessor. So much smaller was this car, that advertising executives at Ford photographed a woman parallel parking a sedan for a magazine spread. The new Continental's most recognized trademark, front opening rear doors, was a purely practical decision. The new Continental was a unibody design, and there simply was not the structural strength to front-hang the heavy rear doors in the convertible model. To simplify production, all cars were to be four-door models, and only two body styles were offered, sedan or convertible. Therefore, the rear doors were hung from the rear and opened from the front. This "suicide door" style was to become the best-known feature of 1960s Lincolns. The 1961 model was the first car manufactured in America to be sold with a 24,000 mile or 2-year bumper-to-bumper warranty. It is a very nicely equipped car with its #'s matching 430ci V8 engine, automatic, ps, pb, power windows, power seat and power top. They only made 2,857 Lincoln convertibles in 1961 and who knows how many are left! This is the car to have if you want to feel like an instant celebrity. It's the ultimate cruiser and it gets more attention and appreciation then any exotic or new luxury car could ever get. These Lincolns are featured in many movies, music videos and is very well know in the HBO show "Entourage". The 1961 Lincoln Continental became one of the most influential automobile designs of the 1960's. This is also the year of the famous JFK car! It's loaded with the following equipment:#?s Matching 430ci V8 EngineAutomatic TransmissionPower Windows ( Note ) Rear passenger widow was shattered and I ordered one got the wrong size .Currently looking for the right size.Power seatPower SteeringPower BrakesAM RadioEtc....Black leather seats A Certified Milestone Car these are arguably the finest cars produced during the 60's.
