This is a Porsche 944 Turbo, 1989 model year car with extremely low mileage (43,836 miles or 70,703 kilometers). 1989 was the only year that Porsche had the larger 2.7L engine, which produced 162 HP, and there were only 4,103 of these vehicles produced. Only 1385 of these cars were sent to each of Canada and the United States, so these cars are rare. Rarer still is to find one in such great condition and with such low mileage. The 2nd generation post-1986 Turbos are considered more desirable than the earlier cars, having improved interiors, suspensions and engines. This car has been lovingly cared for by each of its two owners. The first owner was a cardiac surgeon who returned to his native Australia after owning the car for one year. He sold this car to my father in 1990 with only 9,920 miles on it. It had had been regularly serviced by the closest Porsche dealer. When my father took possession of the car, he continued to drive the two hours to the Porsche dealer for regular servicing until 2005 when he found a local award winning mechanic who he trusted enough to perform the maintenance on this vehicle. Maintenance records are available. The most recent repair was to replace a leaking valve in the AC unit, and to replace a relay for the ABS. This car has no rust and has original paint. As with any pre-owned car, there are a few minor surface scratches, but these would probably all buff out. In general, the paint quality is very good, with high reflectivity and gloss. It has never been winter driven. It has been stored each night for the last 21 years in my father's garage, so the paint is still in amazing condition. The low mileage on this car is the result of not being winter driven, and because my father lived very close to work and to his golf course. This car has never been in an accident, has no hail damage, has never been stolen. The leather seats are in amazing condition. There is only one area that has any wear, and that is on the drivers side where the driver rubs against the back support when getting in and out of the car (see the photo for details). The car has a power moon roof, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and anti-lock brakes, all in working condition. The car audio system includes the Porsche CD player and Blaupunkt equalizer. Because of its low mileage, the car is still very stiff and handles beautifully. The manual 5-speed transmission 2.7L turbocharged engine is rated at 162 HP. Despite the high performance nature of this car, it has been driven very gently.
