Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1958 chevrolet brookwood wagon to fund some other projects I would like to finish. As much as I would like to keep it I can't keep them all! Here is a little history on the car. I purchased the car from the original owner who bought the wagon at Beach city chevrolet in long beach california. Originally it was two-toned white and the teal green coming through. The man wanted an all white wagon but, was told none were available and, to come back for the 1959 models at the end of summer to trade it in on a white one. When he saw the 59 brookwood he did not like ie at all. So, he call the local earl scheib in long beach and had it painted all white for $29.95. The man had several kids who liked to go to lion's drag strip every weekend! Although I don't have any time slip from the drag strip there is no way that this car did not run at lions. He had the motor modified by a speed shop in long beach in the early sixties. When I bought the wagon It had the original 283 bored .125 over(301), corvette 58x fuelie heads, dual four barrel intake, tach drive distributor, and dual exhaust. It was set up to run for a wagon. The only thing I have left is the block. So, The car was at Lion's drag strip almost every weekend until 1967 when the family moved to Pittsburgh, PA. When they arrived in Pittsburgh the car was in tow behind a blue bird bus and, went straight into the integral garage of there new house. The wagon sat in that garage on jack stands from 1967-2005! for 38 years the car was forgotten about until a friend of mine who worked with one of sons mentioned there might be an old wagon in the down stairs garage. And then it was mine!! The engine was removed and replaced with a fresh rebuilt 1996 vortec 350 bored .030(355),new eagle crank, reconditioned rods, trw forged pistons,(4,000 miles on rebuild),edelbrock 600 cfm carb, electric fuel pump and reconditioned fuel tank, Mallory uni-lite distributor. Cast iron powerglide was replaced with a rebuilt th350 w/ b&m shift kit and b&m torque converter,(1,500 miles on it). I had the original harrison rad rebuilt as a 4 core desert rad with 15" electric fan. New shocks all around with air in the rear. Custom telescoping three peice driveshaft. Gm disc brake conversion. Also a optima red top gel cell battery. I then installed the 18x8" front and 20x8.5" rear Coy's c-5 rims(good rubber)The grill in the car is a Gene Winfield original that was in the back of the wagon when I got it. Finally I built a machine turned center console to hold the radio, amp, polk 6.5 speakers. and gauges because I was not cutting that bitchin dash. I rebuilt some original drive-in speakers for the rear. Everything else is original to the car. All exterior panels are orignal. All interior peices are original. I added the nhra theme! Front seat cover is coming apart at the seem, and the door panels are not perfect, but for an interior that is 54 years old it pretty nice and the patina to match the outside! I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Ebayers with less than 5 feedbacks or negative feed back need to email me before bidding or your bid will be retracted! International bidders must transfer funds from a US bank! Please email with any questions prior to bidding!! It is the bidder's responsibility to inspect and/or research the vehicle's condition prior to bidding A non refundable $500.00 dollars deposit is due 24hrs after auction ends, and full payment is required 3 days after the auction ends. Funds must be clear before vehicle leaves. On Sep-21-12 at 21:46:55 PDT, seller added the following information: I tried to ad a couple more picture but the listing won't allow it. So, Here is a link to a photobucket alblum with some shots of the jambs, rockers, spare tire well, console and others! One thing I forgot to mention is the correct one peice bumpers front and rear. Also ithas the original ez-eye glass all the way around. The drivers window has a single crack. http://photobucket.com/dragsafari58On Sep-24-12 at 22:04:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a reminder! There is no surprise bodywork or welded in patch panels under this paint!! Just clean California sheet metal! What you see is what your getting.IT could be ready for paint in about an hour if that's what you want to do? Or clear it and leave it the way it is! Again there is NO RESERVE!!!
