Vehicle Detail

1951 ( 51 ) Ford Sedan, nick named a " Shoebox " . This car is NOT a "show" car, it is a genuine "old school Rat rod". This car was originally a hard top, but the roof has been cut off and it was converted. There is NO roof that covers the top....so it is topless. It has a Ford 302 cubic inch V8 out of a mustang and a C4 Automatic transmission. I do not know what year the 302 motor is, but I do know that it runs excellent and very strong ... has lots of power! I would guess (but don't know ) it has had some cam work done to it as well, it puts out quite a bit of power! Surprisingly it gets around 20 miles to the gallon! The transmission is also in great shape and shifts nicely in all gears. It has dual strait pipe exhaust and sounds awesome! All of the interior upholstery is brand new and has two fat white racing stripes covering the entire job from front to back. The black carpet is not brand new, but the carpet is a kit that was put in a few years ago and is in good shape. It has all four matching original wheels, chrome hub caps and beauty rings and they all look great! The body is really pretty strait and clean over all on the outside and looks sharp going down the road. If you wanted to make this a really nice car you would have to do the body work and put a real paint job on it....( but I like it how it is....a sweet poor boys rat rod!) It has 6 fully functional matching seat belts (3 in front, 3 in back ).The shifter was extended over 2 feet so that it is tall and has an aftermarket 8 ball on top. It has a pioneer cd player and speaker system which has very nice sound, and also has an "ooga" horn with the button mounted under the dash. The tires are all in good shape, the white walls are an aftermarket paint on rubberized two stage kit with primer ( so that it has the old vintage look ) and in my opinion really match the look and feel of the car! The car has a few small drips of oil under it every time I move it ( I fire it up and drive it at least once a month ). There is some rust in the back corners, look at the pictures and you will see, I took a close up for you, there is also some rust in the bottom of the trunk ( see pictures there too!) , and some rust was in the front floor pans but there is newer steel panels welded in. from what I hear this is typical for the bottom of the spare tire well in the trunk to rot out on these....and this one is pretty much gone. The fuel cap was relocated into the trunk so that there is no outside access to fill the tank, you have to open the trunk to fill it up. It has an electronic button release trunk lid, but the release quit working a few months ago and I have not looked at it yet ( I think it just needs new wire connections put on ), so I hooked a bungee cord on it to hold the trunk lid down temporarily. None of the original gauges work on the dash, but it has an after market gauge cluster mounted under the dash with water temp, engine oil pressure and volt meter and all of these are in good working order. The windshield wipers don't work either and the heater was removed from the vehicle. It gets up and moving very quickly, but its top speed is around 50 to 55 mph. It has always been very dependable and smooth running. I am located in IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO The honest truth: I love this car and would prefer not to sell it, my wife and I love to ask other couples to go on dates with us and take this nasty old beast to ride in. We have used it primarily for our date night car and "ice cream" car. IT TURNS HEADS NON STOP!!! People always ask questions or just smile because we are having so much fun. I have loved owning this old car, and I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as we have! We don't have room for it now and unfortunately I need to clear up some space. FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID, I AM HAPPY TO HELP YOU IF I CAN! THANKS! ***THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY, AND OWNER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SELL THIS VEHICLE OUTSIDE OF EBAY AT ANY TIME***
