Hello my name is Tom and I am selling a 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle - Classic Convertible . Parts or restoration project.1971 VW Beetle (super) convertible.Factory 4 cylinder 4 speed manual transmission both of which work great.Factory AM-FM radio,Aftermaket EMPI (aftermarket) wheels/rims.Tires all look good,Interior is real nice and all the glass is there.It has been Very reliable and fun to drive.It has paint peeling,flaking,chips and rust.Chrome and trim is all there and looks better than average.Someone is going to get a great deal here in this auction. I am listing/selling this vehicle for my friends that recently recieved some disturbing news about "the wifes" car.Just a little back ground on these folks are as follows.They have a fabulous car collection that All (lots of trophies,magazines,calender shots etc) of which are done to a Very High standard.My friend always starts with a VERY solid automobile that he and his bride like.This car was purchased a little over three years ago for her to take with there other vehicles to car shows.After driving it and taking it to car shows they decided to get started on the restoration this fall.Upon taking it in to have the "Mechanical" completed the inspection revelled it was not what Bob & Jeanne thought they had bought.My friend as he says"does Not do rust".Bob has done his cars himself forever however this one will not cut it for him.It "looks" good from what you can see however the inspection tells a different story(see actual findings in pics provided).They were told the car was "not safe" (They drove it hours on the expressway 70-75 mph to get there) to drive it home because of the Major brake work and "Lots of rust"/right rear body mount rusted thru. My friends and I just want you to be aware of what they/we know about the car.This car starts,runs and even drives good however because the brake system is in need of rebuilt (Needs wheel cylinders,shoes,hardware kit etc.)it will not be driven.Take a look at photo 9 down on left row and top pic in second row of pics and that is a long crack/split and rust thru in the right rear wheel well (I have more pics if you need).That split allows you to actual move/jerk the right rear bumper corner up and down.The floors and rocker area appear to be solid from what I saw.Someone in the past has sprayed black rubberized under coating over rust including rust thru in right rear body mount.This car would need allot of (to much Bob thinks) money put into it to do a safe accurate restoration(the standard he does).Hence the parts/restoration project we are selling it as.It is not being sold as safe reliable transportation(actually reliable it has been,lol).Hence hauling or towing car from here after paid for in cash/bank transfer.Speaking of paid...Payment will be made in full within 3 days of end of auction and picked up within 30 days of auction end.You may be required to pay tax and transfer/title fee here in Michigan depending on where you live.This vehicle is sold AS-IS with No warranty.If you need any other pictures or copies of inspection details from the European Automotive facility email me.It's late,I will add anything to the listing I forgot on Monday evening so check back.This is a 7 day auction with no reserve so it will go to the highest bidder.Please do Not bid if you do not have the money and morals to complete the transaction.Thank you for looking and trusting.God Bless,Tom
