Up for sale is a 1986 Toyota 4Runner or also known as "La Selva" La Selva is powered by a 2.4L 22RE 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed transmission and 4 wheel drive She runs strong and drives straight, 4wd shifts nice and smooth. Manual lock out hubs on the front. Truck is solid and has a west coast frame with no rust. there is one rust spot behind the driver side rear wheel well, below the crocodile's tail, but would be easy to fix with some bondo. 31X10.50 tires with plenty of tred. 307k on the odometer and still ticking. the top half of the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner. Does have a vacuum leak somewhere, and can hear it but haven't been able to find it since I've owned it, but doesn't affect it's performance. Averages 22 mpg while loaded down with all of our gear. This miraculous beast has been our mobile traveling home for the past 8 months. La Selva has taken us on a long journey south through the barren lands of Mexico, down the whole pacific coast to the border of Guatemala, back up through central Mexico to the east coast of the United States and then across the US to here Oroville California. Lots of work was done to prepare for our journey, new timing chain, waterpump, oil pump, all belts, radiator hoses, thermostat, vacuum hoses, headgasket, and resurfaced head. New front brakes and rear driveshaft u-joints, just before the trip across the US. Also just installed new spark plugs, wires, rotor, and distributor cap. Detailed documentation of all work done since my ownership with all gas fill ups and mileage. La Selva has been driven 14 thousand miles in the past 8 months, and across the whole USA, just 3 weeks ago, I would not hesitate to drive her back across the States or back into the jungles of Mexico or Costa Rica. I would be happy to pick you up in the airport in her and you could drive her home. She is outfitted with convenient storage space on the sides and rubber cargo flaps to keep your gear in place over the bumpy roads, netting over the side windows to allow for ventilation in mosquito infested campsites, curtains all the way around for those days you want to sleep in past sunrise and for privacy, and a rubber mat in the rear for extra padding on your bed. La Selva has a CD player with aux imput for ipods or mp3's. The key to the rear window from the back does not work, but the window is operable and rolls down from the front of the vehicle through a switch. The passenger side seat uses 2 pieces of drift wood to allow it to slide forward, nothing too complicated. Top comes off and is very nice to drive around in. She is painted up very inconspicuously, so you blend in when traveling in small towns and do not stand out. For some reason people always wave at us and want to take pictures next to La Selva. She is a perfect candidate if you want to go on a safari, 4x4 to get you through swamps, mountains, deserts, beaches, sleeping area and shelter to protect you from the harsh conditions, animal pictures on the outside to scare off predators or make friends with the crocs, turtles, or serpents. I have a clear Washington title in hand, in my name ready to sign over. It will be a sad day to see La Selva drive off with new owners but we now have a camper truck with more room and better suitable to live in while traveling. email me with questions or if you would like to visit La Selva and see if you bond.
