1966 DODGE D100 STEP SIDE PICKUP TRUCK Original Hard Working 318 200 HP Polyspheric V8 Engine Original 3 Speed Manual Transmission 98,156 Original Miles All Original Sheet Metal Original Wood Bed with Metal Strips 5 Year Old Paint (approx) – Great 20 Footer! First things first: We are selling this great all original truck because of health reasons. Our intent was to do a complete restoration because the body sheet metal is in such great condition and it has the original hard to find Polyshperic V8 engine in such good running order. It starts and runs great and with recently added double chrome side exit exhausts it sounds amazing as well with that deep Mopar V8 rumble! We bought this truck a little over a year ago. It had been in the same family for almost its entire life, passed down from grandfather to son, then to grandson, before we came along. It’s a lifelong Virginia truck and never out of state, except to NC for car and truck shows. We were told the original owner rarely drove it – he bought it new as a “town” truck, and it sat in his carport for most of its early life. The grandson (from whom we bought it) has had it repainted a few times. A buddy of his is a professional painter and he had any color at his disposal, so it went from (what we think is original) green or black, to red, then black, and to its current color of Chrysler Light Turquoise Metallic Blue (color code: K13) with white grill, bumper and hood insets. The paint is a good 20 footer and actually is really smooth. There are some paint chips missing here and there and some fading in places (where it should’ve been sanded down before painting). The hood is a replacement from another 1966 Dodge D100 and has been spray painted the same color (not professionally). It has been garage kept for most of its life (carport to garage, to barn, and then to our garage). The original seat was removed years ago when it came out of the barn (a nice mice motel!) and was replaced with the current fabric bench seat from a late model vehicle. The interior is black with the Turquoise Blue on the door panel inserts, glove box and ashtray. The engine and electrical system: Runs great, sounds awesome! Just had a tune up with new points, plugs, plug wires, air cleaner, oil and filter change and lube. Brakes were realigned all around (original drum brakes) and new wheel cylinders replaced on the front. The battery is less than a year old. The heater blower motor works but the core was leaking a bit so it has been bypassed. The black wheels are finished with brand new Wheel Vintiques chrome baby moon hubcaps and trim rings. The tires are in good condition. New dual exhaust mufflers have side exit chrome tips. Transmission is 3 speed on the column and shifts smoothly. The headlights, turn signals, brake lights, windshield wipers and all gauges are in working order. The tail lights are aftermarket, but we have the original lights and mounting brackets that will go with the sale. They have been professionally sandblasted and are ready for paint. The horn is an aftermarket piece. The grandson had an air horn attached to the top of the cab. We removed it (you can have it if you want it!) and patched the hole that was left (not a professional patch job). The door glass is good and roll ups and down freely. The windshield and rear glass are also in good condition. The body: The sheet metal is amazing for a 1966 vintage! No major dings or dents anywhere on this truck (probably because it’s been garage kept most of its life). The bed tail gate opens and closes like new. There are some scratches in the back from previous hauling, but still very minor overall. The bed is original and has the original strips and bolts. Our intent was to replace the bed wood and restore the original strips, but when we’ve had it out so many people are amazed at the good original condition, we haven’t done that yet! The hood is a replacement from another 66 Dodge D100. The problem areas are the same as most vintage trucks – the rocker panels need to be replaced. We have brand new replacement panels for both sides from Rock Auto that will go with the truck. The cab floor has been patched and painted at some point in the last few years, but should be replaced with proper floor pans in the future. It’s a solid floor and you won’t fall through by any stretch, but if you want to restore the truck to its original glory...well, you know what you should do! We contacted the Chrysler Museum when we got the truck to help us decode the VIN, looking for the correct original color. We were told all records had either been destroyed or lost from those years in the late 50’s to later 60’s, but they were kind enough to send us copies of sales flyers for the 1966 Dodge Truck line as well as the complete specifications bulletin for all 1966 Dodge pickups. This bulletin has every piece of mechanical information you’d need to completely restore this truck! This is an amazing piece of history in itself! We also have a reproduction Operator’s Manual and a CD version of the original Service Manual that we purchased. We have decoded the VIN enough to know that this truck was produced right after the first of the year, making it one of the first produced in 1966, the last year of the iconic Polysphere V8 engine. We bought the truck with white spoke wheels on it (15 inches) but replaced those with original gloss black D100 wheels. If you are interested in the white wheels they are for sale as well at an additional cost of $150 for all 5, which includes the spare. This is an awesome truck to restore, or to turn into your dream resto-mod truck! We are listing this as is, with NO WARRANTY given or implied. It has been driven all over Virginia and North Carolina by the previous owner and should be safe to drive anywhere, but we had it transported to our house by a professional vehicle transport service. Health reasons have not made it possible for us to make lengthy trips in the truck. It is located in Bridgewater, VA and is available to see by contacting us. We will quickly respond to questions through Ebay. This is a NO RESERVE auction and the high bidder will be the winner. Only serious bidders please – no tire kickers! A deposit of $500 is required via Paypal with 24 hours after the bidding ends. Final payment is due when truck is picked up at this location with a bank cashier’s check. We will assist with shipping arrangements, but you will be required to pay for any and all extra costs associated with buying this truck, including shipping, and getting a valid title and tags, etc for it from your state DMV office. This truck has a clear title in our possession that we will give you when you pick it up. Thanks for looking at this great Dodge truck!
