Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1997 "AS IS" with the understanding that the car "WILL NOT START". Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you about how we got to this point where the car won't start. In April of this year my wife purchased a new car and we wanted to sell this vehicle. At the same time, for work related reasons I had to leave town for a month and a half. I listed the car on Craigslist, but then removed the listing a day later because I was leaving town and my wife was not comfortable showing the car. Keep in mind that on the day these pictures were taken I drove the car home and parked it back in the garage. During the time I was gone my wife drove the car twice, and it was running fine when she parked it. Fast forward to late May. When I returned home, I was ready to list the car and get it sold ASAP because I've found out that we were now relocating. When I tried to start the car it had been sitting, with no attempt to start it, for approximately 2 weeks. When I attempted to start the car it would not start. It would turn over just as strong as it always had, but it would not fire up. After searching online, I found forums that said that sometime the fuel pump will "stick" and prevent the car from starting. The diagnosis that was recommended was to check the fuses for the fuel pump "they were ok". My next diagnostic was to simply turn the ignition on and listen to hear the fuel pump. Ah ha, "Nothing". I believe i've found the problem. Surprisingly the fuel pump on this vehicle is extremely EASY to access. I simply removed the back seat "which required no tools" with the intention of taking the fuel pump out and shaking it, then put it back in to see if it was stuck. That took 30 min. :-( I still can't hear the pump. I put it back together and because we were packing up to move I never had a chance to work on it again. On June 8th the movers have packed everything and I still have a car in the garage that won't start. I called a tow truck and had the car moved to a friends house, where it has sat ever since. This car has always been garaged and well maintained. The paint is in perfect condition and the only defect on the interior is a small rip on the arm rest where the drivers elbow rest. Otherwise there is just normal wear for a car this age. Air condition is very cold, and heat works perfectly. The window regulators have been replace and they go up and down as smoothly as when it was new, and the same for the sun roof. There are NO, absolutely no oil leaks, water leaks, or any other leaks. The only thing that I can think of that needs to be fixed, other than getting it to start, is the switch on the drivers seat. The problem with it is that if you attempt to adjust the seat while sitting in it, you blow the fuse. If you adjust the seat before sitting down it works fine. I'm sure there is an electrical short in the switch or where the wires plug into it. This car has high mileage but has had many parts replaced with OEM parts over the years. This includes water pump, alternator, PCV valves, 02 sensors, to name a few. Feel free to email me with any other questions you have about the vehicle! I have the current "clean" title in hand. ****Keep in mind that I'm in Florida and the car is in North Carolina so for that reason local pick-up is recommended*** If you choose to have it shipped, the buyer must make all arrangements.
