Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ model. 455 Big Block Auto Trans Air Conditioning Power Windows New Style Leather Seats 22" Rims The car has a 455 Big Block in it and yes it is running. Automatic transmission. Air conditioning, power windows, newer style black leather seats, and 22" rims. Also has an electric cooling fan and half vinyl top. Most everything is now is working condition and the bumpers are great as well as the bumper spacers which almost always you see rotted out on these cars. The title is clear and good. And the car can be driven daily. The things left are bolt ons or cosmetic. But all the lights, turn signals, and mechanical parts are good. The motor was smoking and burning off some oil out the tailpipe. First thought was that the rings were bad...but the other day we put new valve seals in. So now we will drive it a bit and see if the smoke clears up. We are hoping that the bad valve seals were allowing oil to pass by and burn off. The motor runs like a top though and starts up first time every time. The motor otherwise....is in great condition. The air conditioning needs a new pressure switch in it but we have jumped it to get it to run. So...it just needs that but it will run so you don't have to think it will cost a fortune to finish it off to fix it. I will note that 2 of the tires are getting bald. The other 2 are very good. They are good for awhile though. The dash has 2 small cracks but really is in excellent shape. Very good. The headliner is ok also. The one thing to make the interior really good would be new carpet. The floormats cover most of the worn out areas but if we are talking making it into a showcar, then it would need carpet. Also the center console is good. The car still has come things to finish on up which is why the car is as cheap as it is...but the body is straight. The only rust is some small spots on the bottom of the doors and a few small minor holes in the trunk from when there was holes in the top before we fixed them. The quarter panels, fenders, hood, and trunk deck lid are near perfect. A good paint job and minor other items and you have a nice looking near show car for maybe $3500 bucks into it total is all. The rims and big block engine would probably run you over the asking price for the car. So...we think we have it priced right. The vinyl top has been replaced but is not the best. It is ok but to put back to show condition...you would want to re-do it. The good news is that underneath the vinyl is perfect. There was some holes in the roof top that were fixed and new metal put in. So the car has those leak issues already resolved. I am listing this for a friend of mine who is a mechanic. I traded him the car for some work on some other vehicles I had and now he is wanting to sell it. The title is still in my name and is good to go. I see him about 3 times a week, so I can go with you to the DMV when the time comes to do the title transfer. I know most all the ins and outs on the car...so give me a call and I can tell you everything I know about it and then we can set up a time with him to see it in person. The car is in Fayetteville, NC near Cumberland Rd. Please call if interested. And please have your funds ready and available if you are interested in the car. I cannot hold it or trade or wait till you get your tax money back next year for payment! LOL I am looking for cash only to pay off some bills. I am sure I am forgetting some items but those are the main points and some of the good and bad. I do have a trailer and can bring the car to you for transport...but only within a few hours away please. And we can negotiate a shipping price. Also, I have a set of 5 14" Pontiac Rally wheels and trim rings that can be sold with the car for an additional $100 if you want the original style rims also. If you are interested contact me and we arrange something for $1995. Thanks and give me a call!On Aug-23-12 at 18:15:51 PDT, seller added the following information: ***UPDATE!!! The new valve seals that were put into the motor seem to have cleared up the motor that was smoking a bit. After running the car for a few days with the new seals...the car has stopped smoking. We never really thought it was the rings in the motor since the car had great power and didn't seem to lose any. Our thoughts were that the seals were allowing oil to seap by to the exhaust. Now that it has stopped smoking, this seems to have confirmed that the motor is indeed in good shape and the car can be driven daily.*** So to the several watchers of the auction and people that have contacted me...this is the latest pleasant update! Thanks
